“His travel ban is still suspended and its months old”
Yep. It appears that the Trump whitehouse can be rendered helpless by even the lowliest of liberal judges.
Despite having won the election, it is obvious that we lost, anyway.
So disappointed. Looking at the last box available now as the only choice left. The bullet box.
The battles the dems win are nasty. They don't win outright battles. Their wins are about as honorable as taking a city because someone inside the city betrayed it by opening the gate to the enemy. They may be winning battles, but the war is not over. I suppose Trump could have waited until Gorsuch was confirmed before issuing the executive orders on immigration/travel/sanctuary cities. But then he would have been accused of doing nothing he had promised. So far, he has kept his promises and it is clear what needs to be done next to defeat the dems.
RE: ‘See You In The Supreme Court!’
We already know how 7 of the SCOTUS Justices will decide.
The unknowns will be (as usual ) — Justices Kennedy and Roberts.
It is looking like the libs can stop him cold on just about anything right now and he can't/won't do anything but tweet back at them. Until he moves on these issues, he's pretty much letting the judiciary run the country. Bad precedent being set.
President Trump is undermining his own argument about sanctuary cities protecting illegal aliens from our laws by doing the same with DACA.
Promises mean nothing if you don’t get results.
Repeal Obamacare? Nope.
Build the wall? Nope.
Ban ISIS from travel into the country via terrorist states? Nope.
Get rid of our swarms of dangerous illegal immigrants? Nope.
Re-establish the rule of law? Nope.
Put that sorry bitch Hillary and her cronies in jail? Nope.
I could go on and on. This is why I voted for Trump. He seems like an honerable man, but he has been defeated at every turn.
...Trump may have _said_ some things, but hasnt actually directed anything....
Sessions sent a don’t do this “or else” letter to San Francisco. That made it official.
Should have already done that.
He is not gaining any goodwill from the other side by keeping the illegal program running.
Makes sense....But believe it will wind up at the USSC to let the Dems and their judges know they’re wrong...
What have they won?
Let’s see:
Right now there’s an FBI investigation going on into Trump
A Senate investigation
A House investigation, of which the chair has recused
The AG has recused on similar matters
Trump’s signature EO’s are not in effect
They have laid the ground work for legal challenges on all matters going forward, ensuring a delay of 1 year on anything Trump signs.
Much of which has contributed to nothing passing in Congress, in my opinion
I said battles, not the war. I do agree, the democrats are on the wrong side of these court cases, but do you really think they will get any blow back if ISIS attacks the US via a refugee? Nope and, if any, very little. They will get lots of cover from the media, social media will step in to control the flow of memes and information.
Last I checked, the purpose of winning the House, Senate, and the Presidency is not to garner information for campaign commercials for the next political cycle. My point is that this opportunity is being wasted, not because of Trump, but because of Ryan and a bunch of dysfunctional GOP members who lack the courage to peel back liberal policies in whatever measure is politically viable.
This will be the MOST power the GOP will have during Trump’s tenure. It’s going to get harder to pass legislation not easier. Playing the long game is good and I respect that, but one must seize the moment because opportunities like this are rare.
The travel ban was for 90 days and those 90 days have now expired, so they got over on us with that one. The only reason we didn’t appeal to the SCOTUS was that without Justice Scalia, it was potentially a 4-4 tie which would have meant the lower court ruling stands, and THAT would truly be a dangerous precedent.
As it is now, he can comfortably turn to the court and know he’ll get relief. These aren’t hard questions. Kennedy and Roberts aren’t going to go rogue over a dumbass thing like this. But when it was 4-4 they might have because you know, resist.
Not worth the time or money to spend on this. The President may lose this at the SCOTUS because these restrictions were not in force during the Obama debacle when the grants were appropriated. So the 400 “sanctuary” locales will probably get their funding until October, when next year’s fiscal budget kicks in
Pres. Trump’s first budget. He can make sure that the grants will only be given to those entities that are complying with the federal government’s immigration laws.
By the way, why isn’t someone looking into chopping the Ninth Circuit into little bitty pieces???

Read it again and again and again. We are at a turning point in history. We are wasting our only chance. Years from now, when the country is shattered in civil war, or ruled by a communist regime, we will look back at this point in time and ask what went wrong? Moments like this are rare. And we have lost this one because our leaders were not bold enough
I agree. I just don't think the game is over yet. If the things on your list don't get done (later, as it turns out, rather than sooner), then Trump will certainly become an irrelevancy. We may be past the point of no return, and it may be that the Uniparty and judges have effectively destroyed the power of the Executive Branch (as long as the president is a DC outsider). If that's the case, there will be no point in voting in future presidential elections.
You don’’t say!
In other news, the Supreme Court vacancy has now been filled.
No you missed nothing. The grant withholding actually came from Sessions, not Trump.
http://thehill.com/homenews/administration/325943-sessions-says-grants-to-be-withheld-from-sanctuary-cities
This judge is making a ruling against a news article as no presidential order, guidance or legislation has been made.
The administration can certainly not defy this judge by not denying any grant requests, but just put them in a ‘pending’ pile ala Lois Lerner IRS style delaying them until a real order from the SC smacking the judge down. Just hold all requests from sanctuary entities till the legal dust clears.
And we have lost this one because our leaders were compromised.
Yertle and Ryano play for the other team even if they wear R jerseys.
My fear is that Trump will not continue to appoint strict constructionists. If he does remain true to that, he will have helped this country immensely.
Liberals don't seem to get it that the more their hero liberal judges in the 9th circuit keep issuing these ridiculous rulings, the more certain all his supreme court appointments will be strict constructionists.
Nope, not at all — See this FR Thread.
You’re certainly going to make sure everybody else gets to eat first.
