A federal judge on Tuesday, the 25th blocked a Trump administration order withholding funding from communities that fail to enforce federal immigration law or cooperate with US immigration authorities in another big blow to the Trumps plan to Make America Great Again.
This news is just breaking today so more to come on this most recent roadblock.
An April 18 blog post on Judicial Watch titled, New York Towns, Cities Follow AGs Order to Adopt Illegal Alien Sanctuary Laws, detailed the stupidity being enacted by liberal lawmakers in New York, joining others such as California in confronting the Trump administration.
Nearly a dozen New York State municipalities have followed the state attorney generals recent legal guidance for how to skirt federal immigration law and continue its sanctuary city/state status. The purpose of that document was to: assist local authorities that wish to become sanctuary jurisdictions by offering model language that can be used to enact local laws or policies that limit participation in immigration enforcement activities.

We live in a judicial dictatorship. As another example, a federal judge recently ordered this to a civil litigant before illegally confiscating all of his property and terminating his civil rights, stating:
You are a fool, a fool, a fool, a fool to screw with a federal judge, and if you dont understand that, I can make you understand it I have the full force of the Navy, Army, Marines and Navy behind me,

Yes. The order means nothing.
It’s own words:
“... It does not affect the ability of the Attorney General or the Secretary to enforce existing conditions of federal grants or 8 U.S.C. 1373, nor does it impact the Secretarys ability to develop regulations or other guidance defining what a sanctuary jurisdiction is or designating a jurisdiction as such. “
It’s just a PR stunt.
Those stipulations are in the grant documents and state which federal statutes are invovled. Failure to comply could result in loss of remaining grant funds, payback of any and all funds, loss of eligibility for any future funds. At least it was for all of the federal road grants that my city and county applied for when I was the public works director.
Why not? If a judge issues an illegal and unconstitutional ruling for which they lack standing, why the heck not just ignore it? The press will have a field day - so what, they are going to find some sort of anti-Trump crap anyway.
To paraphrase Andrew Jackson: the court has ruled, let them enforce it.
It is my view that these judges have been acting illegally to stop Trump from taking actions to protect the USA that are constitutionally within his authority to do. They should really be arrested and locked up, but certainly ignored and ridiculed for their inane, ignorant decisions.
They also need to be impeached/defrocked - however it needs to be done.
This order has no legal validity, and will not affect the Trump administration's ability to withhold the federal funds in question.
When is Trump going to get the Supreme Court or himself to tell the 9th Circuit to go to hell?
Just another piece crap in a black robe thinking he is a god. Past time to rid ourselves of the whole bunch and start over with real judges that follow the law and not legislate.
Somebody got to it already........
Later tonight.
Well, did the court orders stopping the EO on refugees have legal validity? That one is in effect.
Time for an “aiding and abetting charge and perp walk!
“POTUS does not have the power of the line-item veto.”
Does the Constitution give congress the power to avoid veto by lumping unrelated measures together in the same bill? I don’t remember that language, but then, I forget stuff.
Seems to me that if congress abuses its power in that way, without specific language permitting it, the president must logically have the power to fight their wickedness with a line-item veto, even absent specific language permitting it.
Or are we saying that the left can act to damage our country without specific language permitting it, but the enemies of evil cannot act to thwart them without specific language permitting it?
That’s something Reagan could have explained to the American People, and I’ll bet Trump could too.
Wow. It’s important to keep one’s cool and take the fight to the Supreme Court to clarify the President’s prerogatives.
It really is quite simple.
Immigration and Border enforcement carry a cost. If the so-called Sanctuary Cities will not expense the cost of their part in enforcement, then the President must expense it. Thus, the funds are to be shifted to federal enforcement away from those local governments that refuse to participate.
The other thing is that all funds allocated for so-called Sanctuary Cities can be shut down and shifted out in a reconciliation bill which requires only a simple majority.
Funding for federal magistrates who pull these rotten moves on the nation’s security can also see their budgets closed out or severely curtailed.
This is what happens when the lawyers hold all the power. People elected a populist president who is pro-American and another blackrobed tyrant says he holds the power over the President. What should be done other than taking out this judge?
NYS: In 2008, Gillibrand voted to punish sanctuary cities.
Simple solution: fund them!20.00 is enough.
Eff the judge and proceed ahead. Ignore this kangaroo court judge and enforce the policy. Obama routinely defied courts when the ruling went against him. Aside from the obvious (eventual) SCOTUS challenge, Trump should not allow himself to be derailed - he is the Chief F**cking Executive!
Good question. I was speaking in general terms. I haven’t read the appropriation line so I don’t know what requirements they may be in violation of.
What it all boils down to is that the oath that Judges, Lawmakers, Law Enforcement, etc., swear to uphold the law and defend the Constitution isn’t worth the paper it’s printed on.
