BREAKING: California Judge Blocks Trump Order Withholding Funding for ‘Sanctuary Cities’

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — A federal judge in San Francisco has blocked a Trump administration order to withhold funding from communities that limit cooperation with U.S. immigration authorities.

U.S. District Judge William Orrick issued the temporary ruling Tuesday in a lawsuit over the executive order targeting so-called sanctuary cities. The decision will stay in place while the lawsuit moves through court.

The Republican president’s administration and two California governments that sued over the order disagreed about its scope.

San Francisco and Santa Clara County argued that it threatened billions of dollars in federal funding.

But an attorney for the Justice Department, Chad Readler, said at a recent court hearing that it applied to a limited set of grants.

Readler said less than $1 million was at stake nationally and possibly no San Francisco funding.

Kind of hard to make the argument that cities can’t protect illegal aliens from the law when the administration is protecting illegal aliens from the law with DACA.

Kind of hard to argue POTUS should fight this more aggressively when he is getting ZERO support from his own party for even limited measures. President Trump can only fight so many nuclear wars while attempting to governing. OTOH, those in the peanut gallery complaining about DACA have no such requirements.

Just freaking ignore this crap already. Judges have no jurisdiction over internal executive orders, and they have no means to enforce their decisions.

Trump should have ignored the very first ruling, but he set a bad precedent and now every tinpot leftie judge in the country thinks he can meddle in federal policy. Whoever is the White House counsel that advised Trump to pay attention to these judges should be tarred and feathered.

I’m sure Trump will release a harshly worded Twitter concerning this, and then do nothing.

So this judge is forcing the federal government to be an accessory to the crime the sanctuary cities are committing.

no words

Somebody needs to wake Sessions up from his day nap.
Read the headlines from off the internet.
After the Inauguration, I’d hoped the president would hire the right lawyers to prevent this from happening or from mattering if it did happen. Apparently, even three months later, that has not yet been done.

Honestly? I believe Trump will come after DACA in due course. He said exactly that, actually. First step is criminal and repeat offenders.

DACA is unconstitutional on its face. Trump knows that. But rounding up millions in 100 days is political suicide.

If these DACA people are getting a pass, it isn’t coming from Trump. Look to states and to Congress who are cross blocking the president at every turn, landing his agenda in court rooms. Congress likes this outcome. Means they don’t have to deal with DACA. YET.

What this judge did today was totally illegal. He needs to removed from the bench.

And who is going to do it. The President? The Senate? The House? Maybe we should just have the military gather them up and sent to Getmo. Maybe we should just have the DOJ retire since they have been sitting on their ars. We don't have law, gone a long time ago.

“Trump is not the Judiciary Branch. He may only nominate SC justices.”

Not true. The president nominates all federal appellate and district court judges as well.

For those who prefer to read the nitty gritty as an antidote to news reports.

I am also bothered by the US Attorney’s argument that nationwide, the policy implicates one million dollars or less. See SF City attorney remarks

Does anyone have standing to sue these courts for abetting the disregard of the plain English of the law? Don’t we have recourse against illegal decisions by rogue judges? They are plainly flouting law, there’s no ambiguity, no room for “interpretation” of the law that plainly states the people these “sanctuary cities” are protecting, are illegal aliens.

Yes, what are they so afraid of? The plain sense of the law is on our side, and these judges are colluding in flouting the law. Start arresting some of these scofflaws!

Since federal laws no longer apply to liberal enclaves, does that mean citizens who claim to be liberal no longer have to pay federal taxes?

Its that hidden part of the Constitution - which says that judges in Hawaii and California have ultimate veto power over US national immigration policy and Federal spending.

What? You haven’t seen it??!

Any city can disregard any federal law they choose from this point on without consequence.

And quite frankly, if any city can do that, so can any person.

They’ll never stop thumbing their noses at the law, because just like the illegals they want to protect, there haven’t been any repercussions, not once, towards either the scofflaw judges or the illegal aliens.

That’s all it would take, to enforce our law, and enforce consquences on these rogue judges!

If the judges can flout the law, then why can’ t everyone? We need a counter-movement using the Second Amendment, in which at least we do have the law on our side, it’s just that anti-2A judges have disregarded it.

They have no shame in hypocritically enforcing federal law when it aligns with their agenda, and disregarding it when it doesn’t.

I don't see how this judge can make the president give money to any city. President Trump should tell him to go f himself.
