I lived in Cambridge at the time, and I was showing my sister around who was visiting (we had just returned from the Aquarium.
About 20 "teens" entered the train, and started stalking potential victims. The train was packed, and I had my girlfriend (now my wife) on one side of me and my little sister on the other (she was no more than 12).
Suddenly, I noticed that the "teens" were breaking out weapons, including knives. We had no room to even maneuver.
The train came to a stop, and that's when they started to grab necklaces, purses, and the the life from passengers. One grabbed my little sister's purse, and I confronted a knife wielding "teen" and got it back. Then, it seemed like the entire gang turned their attention toward me, and a knife was at my throat. One "teen" punched my little sister hard in the face. My future wife got between the gang and shouted "NO!" with her arms in front of me.
The passengers, and the MBTA employees all ran. Not one person helped us.
I spent a career in the military, and that experience, and this one (and others) taught me to be hyper-vigilent in certain situations and to pay attention to my surroundings.
And to thank God.
Yes, thank God you survived that encounter. My son-in-law as a young man had a confrontation with several black punks in front of a friend's home, he was trying to help another when the blacks were trying to crash a party. He ended up getting stabbed several times in the chest, ending up in critical care and almost died. He has scars on his chest from the life-saving surgery. That happened in Des Moines. My daughter often took BART from SF to Berkeley while she went to U.C. there, and said the type of passengers definitely changed for the worse on the Oakland side. She and son-in-law are now living in Des Moines, and I hope they don't encounter black punks there. Not a racist statement, just being realistic.
and always conceal carry.....
Glad each of you made it out okay.
That is a trap just waiting to happen.
Even if you’re armed and it’s a full rail car, how do you get off a clean shot?
Under age or not, police or BART Marshall's should use lethal force from now on. These PUNKS should be treated as they were by Inspector Harry Callahan in the 1970’s...
