The weapon would be confiscated for evidence most likely to never be seen again.

A hook up and a ride to copopolis to get it sorted out several hours later.

A release and a wait wait while the DA sniffs the current political winds to judge whether it would be politically advantageous to charge no matter what the circumstances.

A further wait for a possible civil suite from the assailants family and associated legal fee's.

This is all predicated on you not dying in the initial
assault and sticking around to talk to the cops. Ain't Kali great

Hell of a thing, isn’t it, that in great populous swaths of the U.S. the laws are set up to protect the transgressor, while the transgressed, the ordinary American, is put forward as expendable, as bait, as an offering to the beast.

Screw that.
