5% is more than most people put into retirement. The problem will be that I will not retire. I enjoy what I do too much and people are willing to pay me a lot of money to do it.
One of the things I do when I’m not busy is something a kid in my Small Group will get paid $86k a year to do fresh out of college. I need to get a Security Clearance like he did.

5% is not bad then...
It’s a good return but probably no better than investing 10% for 30 years. I took a 25% pay cut to work for the state. It took 14 years to get back to what I was making. If I had invested that 25% for the last 25 years, it makes the pension look like a booger.
The nice thing about the pension is it can’t be taken away.
