I don't know how many realize how much we owe the French for our country. The deciding battle of our revolution was at Yorktown. The French fleet at the Battle of the Virginia Capes ended any chance for British to receive re-enforcements. And the land battle at Yorktown had more French troops than American: 10,800 French troops, and 8,800 American, against 7,500 Cornwallis's British force.
Yes, but the France that did that is long gone.
