Not many Americans know that Lafayette was like a son to George Washington. George Washington was childless. His wife Martha had two children, but one, a daughter, passed on while a teenager from a stroke or choking fit while eating dinner. Washington witnessed the death, and he could not save her. It stayed in his broken heart forever!!!
Lafayette was a teenager when he arrived in America and left America at the end of the Revolutionary War as the youngest General (23 years old)in the Army of Revolution!!! Washington treated him as his own son and was devastated when Lafayette went back to his family in France. Lafayette was strong and powerful leader, general and support of Washington and the American nation!!!
LAFAYETTE.....you put your life on the line for this great American nation...and now we salute & support both you General, Lafayette & Marine La Penne in her great victory today and the one she will win two weeks hence!!! Freedom, Liberty, Equality lives once again in France!!! God bless the French people and their nation!!!

Bravo to a man who knows his history...Marque de Lafayette indeed may be as important as Washington in saving this nation. I used to have a Layfayette commemorative dollar and rue the day I sold it.
Lafayette is held in high regard here in NC, I’ve always been proud to share a birthday with him. The first town in the United States named for him was Fayetteville, NC.
Lafayette Park, adjacent to the WH, testifies to this. I saw a documentary on him, he was definitely more American than French.
