I have been following the French election closely for the last few months. I am fairly confident that Le Pen will get to the second round. Therein lies the problem. In a two person race it will be difficult to get a majority because all the other parties across the political spectrum will gang up on her and support the other candidate. If Fillon gets to be the other candidate, it will increase her chances.

Re Ivanka: She is an accomplished businesswoman with an impressive resume. I recognize she is more liberal than her father, but ultimately, he calls the shots.

Despite Trump's many accomplishments so far that support our conservative world view, I am under no illusions that he is a pragmatist who will do some things we don't like or agree with. I am OK with that. Trump is the only one who could have beat Hillary. He is far better than the alternative and hope he can get another 4 years to reverse the leftist trends in this country.

Some doctrinaire conservatives believe that Trump must go along with their agenda without exception. Some believe that he presents a serious danger to conservatism by redefining what it means. The NR dedicated an entire edition during the primaries condemning Trump and advocating his rejection as the nominee. Now they want Trump to adhere to the conservative line. This is being reflected in Congress with the Freedom Caucus trying to leverage its votes to stop legislation that it deems violates conservative principles. The willingness to compromise in order to reach some sort of consensus is found wanting. The so-called moderates are no better. As result, the GOP is missing a golden opportunity to get its agenda implemented.

Morning cousin Mike.

You pretty much summed the situation with the GOP as it currently stands between the moderates and “conservatives”. To us out here in la-la land who want things to change, well we get confused.

I’d like to make an insert about Ivanka Trump, who I adore.

I was just so impressed by how artful she acted when that asshole on the Jet started making trouble, kind of like Humblegunner every time he sees me. Indeed Ivanka is a very well-behaved female. You don’t see her making silly Tweets like accusing Abe Lincoln of stealing a MAGA hat and wearing it for selfie.

I have heard that Ivanka is for women’s rights, a main being the ability to deduct the costs of child care.

I worked my whole life and paid a fortune for babysitting. I can’t remember if I could claim my babysitter but if I could it was not near what I paid.

But you can’t work without having your children cared for. Isn’t that a cost of employment?

I guess what I’m saying is there are some so-called liberal, or women’s issues, that are good ones.

Not to mention she takes pride in her appearance and has perfect taste.

I am going to give her wide berth and see where it all goes.

Exactly you nailed it again. We all want 100% of Trumps decisions to be ours.I’m just thrilled that we have had so manly victories already. No one is 100%.If we get 60-80% it would be excellent, just the way of the world.

The French Election - There is no LIMITED G'ment faction in France - you will end up with Communist Dictatorship or something close to Franco's Spanish version of Fascist. None the less a very interesting/fascinating election.

Italy next

Conservative - what ever that means - this term is worthless, has been thrown around by all manor or asshole

Freedom Caucus - Yes , I believe in freedom and strongly approve of the tactics used by the Freedom Caucus - and this is were we have a disagreement - Limited Fed. G'ment. Otherwise when the Other party gets in charge we go back to being tax serfs or worse

And yes, this could happen as early as the 2018 elections - The House could go to the Dems. IF we have a major Recession and the Stock market drops. The odds of this happening in 2017/2018 are very high
