Last fall, just weeks before Election Day, I traveled the old Lincoln Highway, from the Appalachian Mountains to the Rockies, to learn the attitudes of voters who lived miles from the off-ramps of the main interstates and coastal America.
Known as US 30, the mostly two-lane highway connects 13 states and 128 counties between Times Square and San Francisco.
It was on that trip, especially in the Rust Belt states of Pennsylvania, Ohio, Indiana and Iowa, that a realization unfolded: Many had already decided they were not voting for Hillary Clinton.
These voters appeared to defy polls and conventional wisdom. If you believed what they said, it quickly became evident that this corner of the country was going to help elect the first true non-politician in our 240-year history one who had never held public office nor served as a general to the presidency.
Today, almost 100 days after President Donald J. Trumps inauguration, many Americans still remain suspended at the stroke of midnight, Nov. 8, 2016. On that day, those who voted for him were giddy and optimistic, and those who never saw it coming felt disbelief and repulsion, refusing to concede that he won.
And now? Nothing has changed, said Rob Hughes, a registered Democrat and retired businessman from Bulger, Pa., who I met on my cross-country trip, told me last week. Well, thats probably not entirely true. I think I like him more now that he is the president.(continued)

Trump did sign the bill that gave the states the right to defund Planned Parenthood, so there has been at least one bill presented to Trump.
There have probably been others. They may not have been reported in the press.
I’m no fan of Congress, and it’s still getting very low marks from me.
Our President is doing great! He has been swimming upstream, vs his own party, the dems, every socio-cultural-academic element in the country, the press, and the world; yet he is setting records and getting important things done, daily, in spite of all that.
He has more stamina than men one-third his age; and he outworks everyone else in the building.
He is quite a man.
I agree with all of you. Congress has been extremely lacking. Are they aware we have a majority across the board?
We need to Tea Party some of them out of office and get this ball rolling.
I want to see more laws passed. I like the EO reversals but they are not laws.
I’m some what concerned about North Korea because I don’t we should make a big deal about the Fat Boi firing fireworks every now and then unless he kills folks then it’s a problem. Outside of that, how those people live in NK is not my concern.
I think the Fat Boi would be more happy with just having things go as they go and his bon bons keep getting delivered on time.
...bump....
I will never have have second thoughts about my vote as long as I live. Having said that, the first 100 days have been a schizophrenic mess. He fulfills some promises and breaks others, sometimes within the same day.
I am really beginning to doubt Trump’s ability to judge character. That he does not see Ryan for the soulless, globalist, corporatist, jerk he is, is mind boggling
The Mother Road of Trump Country (except for that bit on the left, shame on them)
100 days of NOT HILLARY and NOT OBAMA.
No matter the tally of positives.
No TPP
Gorsuch
Mattis
Sessions
I am not 100% happy, but I am not unhappy.
TPP was huge for me.
Me too but the wall must happen
With him 100%. I actually think it’s been an enormously succesfull first 100% despite the gloom and doom from the media. He tried with the travel bans...they were overturned by rogue judges. He’ll try again. Bombed the hell out of Isis and will continue to do so. Jobs on the rise, deportations up, they are moving forward with the wall and I steadfastly believe it will happen. Obama care repeal and replace was a bit hurried and ill advised but...gonna take another crack at it
Things are all well and good.
If he personailzes the discussions how far will that go?
TPP was huge in Venezuela and now they don’t have none...
Why discussions at all with Ryan?
I’m OK with President Trump.....I hope he wants to do the next 4 years
She has done a great job at report this phenomenon. Trump looks like he is doing a route 30 tour. Harrisburg this week.
For the life of me I still don’t understand how the couple voted for Obama twice and only realized he was no good when ObamaCare fell. Did it really take you 8 years to see what this guy was all about...did you really think he deserved a second term....amazing !!!
Good one! I miss those times!
.”I hope he wants to do the next 4 years”
I said it a month ago or more and I’ll say it again...I don’t think Trump will even go for a second term. I think he will get 80% of what he promised done and hand the ball over to Mike Pence, which would be fine with me. I just don’t think he and his family will want to stay in DC for 8 years, and I don’t blame them one bit.
No probably to it. Both sides of the uniparty are trying to stop anything he tries together done.
