Erin Moran who famously played Joanie Cunningham on "Happy Days" and its spinoff "Joanie Loves Chachi" has died ... TMZ has learned.

We're told authorities in Indiana got a call just after 4 PM ET Saturday from someone reporting an "unresponsive female."  EMT's arrived and found Erin Moran's body ... she was already dead.

Moran shot to spotlight in the early 70s when she was cast on "Happy Days" as Joanie, the younger sister of Ron Howard's character. She continued the role in 1982 alongside Scott Baio in "Joanie Loves Chachi" but the show only lasted one season.

OK, I am almost certainly more Celtic than you. I am proud of my ancestors. We also have a weakness for alcohol.

My Mother adored her Father and he was a successful farmer but he loved the whiskey. She made sure none of us imbibed and we honored her by not doing so.

I would have guessed she was older, she looked pretty rough the last I saw.

Drugs?

RIP

i remember hearing years later how the Fonz deflowered her as a very young age..

I seem to remember an interview where she mentioned this and the interviewer acted as if this where some kind of feather in her cap. She replied plaintively, "...but I was only sixteen."

It appears that the guidance that was lacking in her early life led to much sadness.

I taught high American history before I retired. I'd show kids a reprint of an early 1900’s sears catalog. They were always amazed at the prices and odd products like a medicine called the “German liquor cure”. At which point I'd say, “Big deal, when they make an Irish liquor cure then, they'll have done something.”

“I hope she came to know Jesus before she died.”

I'm thinking, given the trajectory of her life over the last few years, that the only way she would have known Jesus is if he had been dealing heroin in a rural Indiana trailer park. Her life had a sad outcome. RIP Erin.

I think she suffered from mental illness separate and apart from the substance abuse, though the latter might’ve triggered the former and each fed off the other as we’ve been apt to see. It took a toll both inside and out.

I think about that other formerly cute Irish-American actress, Lara Flynn Boyle (whose grandfather was briefly a Chicago Congressman) who has sadly ruined herself (and thanks to plastic surgery, looks like a caricature) despite being only in her mid 40s. She’s one of only two living actors from “Twin Peaks” who won’t be returning to the remake (the other, Michael Ontkean, retired from acting to Hawaii).

The cause of death may not be alcoholism. There are rumors that it was a heroin overdose.

We get our panties in a knot when chemical agents are used against innocent people in Syria. Yet, the number of deaths because of heroin overdoses has exceeded the yearly death rate of auto accidents. This is the same thing as the use of chemical agents to create death. In this case, these chemical agents kill people for the monetary benefit of the nations producing them. Money goes from the American addicts to the producers in Mexico who put the money into the Mexican economy.

We need to send an ultimatum to Mexico. You burn the poppy fields, or we will do it for you. You know, poppy fields are really an easy crop to see from our surveillance satellites.

Harrison , Scott Washington and several other counties in the area have had a heroine epidemic. (When Kentucky outlawed their pain clinics they moved across the river — when Indiana took steps to control, the heroine moved in ) We made national news recently when Aides became prevalent from needle use. Before heroine the area was hard hit by meth. Trailers and the back of pickups became the most common lab locations

I probably have some similar photos on a disc somewhere.

The vast majority of video and photos I’ve shot up hardly get looked at again, at least by me.
