The U.S. Department of Justice signaled its intent Friday to follow through on a widespread immigration crackdown promised by President Donald Trump, warning “sanctuary” jurisdictions across the nation, including California, that the federal government would withhold law enforcement funds if they don’t cooperate with immigration authorities.

In California, Attorney General Xavier Becerra issued a strong rebuke to the demand letter from U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions.

It threatens so-called “sanctuary” jurisdictions across the state, including in Sacramento, San Francisco and Los Angeles, and could impede efforts by Sen. President Pro Tem Kevin de León to expand protections for undocumented people statewide.

Yes! Elections have consequences someone said.

He may be top, but he is no cop, not by real standards.

Becerra sounds like that's a bad thing-------

Sounds like one of Trump's best plans, yet.

No elected official should be protecting illegal aliens from our laws.
That includes President Trump.

If you are harboring, could you not be charged with a felony?

Attorney General Xavier Becerra

If you went all over the world to find the top cop for your state, would you hire a Mexican cop? The guys who are notorious for their corruption and criminality?

So here we have Exhibit #1 of why you don't want to have a guy like this running law enforcement for your state.

Becerra is not American. He's a Mexican, and he has nothing but bile and spite for Americans and America.

Just like Tony Rendon, Kevin de Leon, and the ridiculous Alex Padilla.

But there's nobody as ridiculous as Jerry Brown, the garbage who put all of them in place.

I bet Brown is secretly rooting for federal funds to be cut off. That way he can blame Trump for the state’s out of control financial problems.

2011: "Ha! Who does AZ think they are, trying to enforce federal laws? Immigration is for the Feds, FEDS I tell ya!"

2017: "Waaa! Trump is a dictator for trying to enforce immigration laws! Well, this obscure clause in the 10th Amendment says otherwise! Screw you Feds!"

Trump/Sessions need to use this guy as an example by sending United States Marshals to his office (CNN cameras in tow) and handcuff (not zip ties) this arrogant jerk for dereliction of duty, failure to enforce federal law, harboring criminals, and all around being an asshole.

Then, go see Jerry Brown and put his stupid ass in jail too... he can bunk with Stretch Pelosi in the same cell.

As Pat Buchanan opined: 60 million Hispanics in the US live in enclaves that sustain themselves culturally and economically and socially They've moved part of Mexico to the US. The 24 US counties from San Diego to Brownsville, Texas look like they're part of Mexico. Go to ‘Little Mexico,’ in Tucson, and ask them what the US Constitution says? You think they know?”

All the folderol about "coming here for a better llfe" is a fraud. These are economic migrants living off the fat of the land..... subsidized by US taxpayers.

I am sure the citizens of California will cough up the tax dollars when the feds withhold funds. Or, at least, they can better spend the money they have for climate change.

Good question. In 2015 in San Francisco, Kate Steinle was shot in the head be a five time deported illegal.

It seems to me that since the Mayor did not enforce immigration laws, the Mayor should be charged with accessory to murder.

My argument to the jury: If the Mayor saw to it that immigration laws were enforced and the ILLEGAL alien were arrested for being in San Francisco ILLEGALLY, then Kate Steinle would be alive today.

This is all it would take to get all the other states and cities who are defying the law to capitulate...Why is it not being done???

Not including Trump, but politicians are politicians...

I have NEVER seen a high ranking inside the beltway type politician arrested for the BS that they commonly do....

In a statement, De León said the state Legislature would fight back.

“It has become abundantly clear that Attorney General Sessions and the Trump administration are basing their law enforcement policies on principles of white supremacy – not American values,” he said. “Their constant and systematic targeting of diverse cities and states goes beyond constitutional norms and will be challenged at every level.”

Communists California is in for a real surprise and may never recover. This State has gone communists years ago and that is why it is failing. It is nearly Mexico in many areas and that cannot survive.

A lot of the money spent on illegals would be in education and healthcare.
$15,000 or more per child of illegal every year through high school. $195,000.
Another lord knows what for all their health care. I know of one kid diagnosed with autism, what is that costing taxpayers over decades?

The flow of money needs to stop at the welfare level.
Laws should now be:
No assistance for any children unless one parent was either a legal citizen or legal resident with a propped green card.

Illegals should not be getting any hard on tax dollars, even by their children.

Part of immigration law is you must show your Independence from welfare along with an ability to be 125% over the poverty line for years.
By all accounts, probably 3% of our illegal population would ever qualify to stay in the United States unless gifted access.

Also, with most service industries going to robotics to replace humans since it's cheaper than a minimum wage, there would be no work here anyway for them.
