American Airlines Flight Attendant Accused Of Smacking Woman With Baby Stroller

An American Airlines attendant has been suspended after smacking a mother with a baby stroller onboard a domestic flight Friday afternoon, according to passengers.

The woman had just boarded a 2:18 p.m. flight from San Francisco to Dallas when the shocking incident occurred.

A video posted to Facebook by Surian Adyanthaya caught the tumultuous aftermath.

“OMG! AA Flight attendant violently took a stroller from a lady with her baby on my flight, hitting her and just missing the baby,” Adyanthaya captioned the video.

The footage doesn’t catch the moment when the flight attendant allegedly struck the woman, but the atmosphere in the cabin gets tense as a man steps in to defend her.

“Hey bud, you do that to me and I’ll knock you flat,” the man says to the attendant as the distraught woman stands to the side clutching her baby, with tears streaming down her face.

“You stay out of this,” the attendant fires back.

The man then takes a step forward and the attendant immediately turns confrontational.

“Hit me, c’mon, bring it on!” the attendant shouts.

Exactly. It’s bad enough with 1...can’t imagine 2.

You should not go off half-cocked before seeing to whom you are responding.

Other than mentioning the drunk passenger, I said none of the things you quote in your rant.

As for how many drunk passengers I have seen, I have nearly 3 million flight miles. I have seen drunk passengers of all shapes and sizes. Belligerence like Mr. Macho demonstrated is almost ALWAYS a sign of being drunk. It is also illegal (interfering with a Flight Crew member performing their duties).

As for the rest — I just said the whole thing looked very strange.

You may now post an extremely embarrassed apology which will make us all smile.

Yup, one or both needs to stay behind.

That being said, hit a mom with two babies near me, and we just might have a problem.

If it came to blows, you would doubtless beat the living crap out of me, but them’s the breaks.

As my grandfather (company owner and entrepreneur ) always taught us....”Go straight to the top. Don’t mess around with customer service.” ;) So I did.

My sister nudged me when checking in at the desk on the flight back. Got a glimpse of the computer screen. It said, “Accomidate this passenger at all costs.”

I have had a long experience on this planet. I have noticed that almost all people have an inner sense of what another person is about. My own actions have brought censure. If I felt very annoyed and did not say a single word or betray a facial expression, I noticed this.

The slightest impatient shrug or jerk of the body is immediately perceived by the other person. I go in and out of the local coffee shop through the push doors every day. People simply know if you are pushy and impatient.

What I am trying to say is that it is likely the attendant was very disturbed inwardly. He was fuming at yet another apparent breach of rules. He took out his frustration on the stroller. This nearly cause a nasty accident. One thinks of the old adage. "Don't slam the door on your way out."

Nice.

Typical arrogant airline employee.

I missed that. The video is garbled both what you can see and hear. Can you give me the time index where that happened?

>>BTW, hats off to Tony Fiero, the guy who stood up to the bald thug who endangered a mother and her baby.<<

I saw no endangerment. Can you post the time index in the video where that happened?

Fighting airline security and/or cops. Always a good plan. That is if you want to never be allowed to fly anywhere for the rest of your life.

A witness behind the woman said that a female flight attendant told her to bring the stroller on as it could be folded up and placed in the bin. The woman was doing that when the male attendant grabbed the stroller out of her hands and allegedly hit her.

It's been posted many times on this and other threads that the altercation happened before the video started. It has also been corroborated by eyewitness reports:

From another article:

Olivia Morgan, who was standing in the door to the cabin with her eight-year-old daughter when the incident occurred, said the woman had been looking for a space to put the collapsible stroller.

A female flight attendant had given her permission to look for a storage space as it folds up small, but said she would have to check it in if there was no room.

The American Airlines website says small, collapsible strollers can be checked at the gate. There is no specific rule about not putting them in overhead bins.

'She was looking for space when the male attendant tried to take it away from her... and she said she told him the other attendant had told her it was okay to look,' Morgan said.

But that wasn't good enough for the man, she said.

'The flight attendant wrestled the stroller away from the woman, who was sobbing, holding one baby with the second baby in a car seat on the ground next to her,' Morgan said.

The woman can be seen sobbing and asks staff members to get her stroller back. Witnesses said the attendant struck her with the metal stroller as he was dragging it out of her hands.

At this point, other passengers are heard expressing their disgust at the situation.

One says he's 'not going to sit here and watch this...' and then gets up and walks to the front of the plane to confront flight attendants.

The man asks for the name of the employee who is alleged to have hit the crying woman.

'Hit me!' The shocking moment an American Airlines flight attendant challenges a passenger to a....

I never said it was on the video. As I said earlier, there were multiple eyewitnesses who said baldie yanked the stroller violently away, striking the mother and almost hitting her baby. Example =>

Olivia Morgan, another passenger who was waiting to board the flight with her 8-year-old daughter when the incident occurred. She told KTLA-TV the flight attendant was “violent” and almost hit the woman’s baby with the metal stroller.

The link has a more complete account, including an interview with the guy you accused of being drunk, which might constitute libel unless you can document it.

He appeared drunk to me. I have seen it many, many times. I am entitled to my opinion as to his APPEARANCE and ACTIONS. No liability attached. And an interview doth not a breath nor blood test make.

"I have no idea why the woman was crying and I am AMAZED the macho-man clearly drunk passenger wasn’t tossed off the plane."

That doesn't sound like much like an opinion.

>>clearly drunk passenger wasn’t tossed off the plane.”<<

The modifier of “clearly” makes it an opinion as in “observably.”

And even if he was to bring suit he would have to prove he was NOT drunk (in civil court the complainant has the burden of proof) AND prove damages (a random anonymous poster opining does no damage) AND track me down (good luck with that as only JR knows who I am and I am sure he would not even waste his time responding to an out of state civil subpoena, but who knows?).

Had I just said “drunk” your position might have merit. Might.

And I still think he was drunk.

Don't think so. You make the charge, it's up to you to show that it's true. Otherwise...

So, now you would have us believe that, even though you can't spend even a modest amount of time reading the whole article (and even less ability to comprehend what has been posted) instead of viewing a snippet video on the subject, you're an EXPERT in diagnosing inebriated people from said video.

You seem determined to find her at fault, regardless of the facts. You'd save everyone time and effort if you just posted "SHE'S WRONG!!!" And leave it at that.

the macho-man clearly drunk passenger

I had a completely different take on this. My first thought was if he were my family member I would be so incredibly proud of him for standing up for this woman. Regardless of what she did, it's clear this man thinks she or the child was hit. I don't know what really happened, but he is incensed by something that happened and has the grit to stand up about it.
