".@RepDaveBrat: New health care plan in GOP pipeline "the same fundamental bill" as one that faltered last month https://t.co/kK1lWALm5T"

— New Day (@NewDay) April 21, 2017

A revised GOP healthcare bill is the 'same fundamental bill' as the first one, but it contains some significant amendments and lawmakers will likely approve it, Rep. Dave Brat said Friday.

"[Republicans] like to rely on free markets as much as we can," the Virginia Republican told CNN's "New Day" anchor Chris Cuomo.

"This is still a federal government structure. I'm not totally happy with that outcome."

The plan "at least cracks the door open" for states to opt out of some insurance regulations, said Brat, so that young people can buy affordable healthcare plans, Brat continued.

That is just foolish

It has been known for years that an eventual Republican plan would replace Obamacare. The question has always been over the various fine points.

The Republicans and especially trump have never ever said there would be total repeal with nothing to replace it

Does it REPEAL Obamacare? If so, just pass and then they can change it all they want. RIGHT??

Really? That's exactly what the GOP did in 2015: H.R. 3762

That’s not the only issue. Sure some are afraid of a political backlash but others just want to keep their grubby mitts on our healthcare. They see future taxes, restrictions, fines, all the stuff our glorious government now feeds on.

In fact, there’s a good chunk of Republicans who would have passed Obamacare themselves if they could have.

Depressing. This will end up being Fedzilla food. Then, Trump is going along with Dreamer brats who will end up turning the USA into Venezuela!
I am so pissed.

Another turd sandwich

“We have to pass something because we will never get what we want...”

Same as “we have to pass the bill before you can read it...”

Anyone who doesnt think the Democrats will take the majority in the house and senatebin 2018 is fooling themselves. The Republicans inability to do anything is pathetic. Democrats take congress in 2018 and the White House in 2020.

So much for making America great again

Out of the Jaws of Victory seems the Republican meme.

They are too comfortable losing, which allows them to avoid actually attacking problems.

Unless the bill repeals every word of Obamacare and replaces it with nothing, then I don’t see a reason to support it.

Reality bites. Refusing to accept reality and thinking you should get your way or nothing is a disease.

@trebb Right now is the only opportunity ever for ObamaCare to be repealed. Once the republicans modify it, it will be a law that sticks for generations. We have one shot at "repeal and replace" and it starts with "repeal" and it was what we were promised. I am proud of so many FReepers here and in Congress who have the spine to stand for "repeal". Everyone else is a sellout and part of the problem.

It won’t die. Fannie and Freddie went bankrupt and still didn’t die. Federal programs don’t die on their own.

I am willing to forgo pursuing repayment from the useless taker slugs who accepted benefits under this unconstitutional, immoral and satanic abomination of the law. But that is as far as I go with compromise. Full repeal. Period. That is what I expect. Then, repeal Medicaid. Health care is not a right.

you are like the fake news providers. you left off at least half the tale.

since there was never repeal, the subsequent replacement was never revealed

there have always been many many different Republican replacement concepts

the current process is about determining which of those concepts are acceptable enough to gain a majority

Things aren't fake just because you say they are. Last year was a repeal, period. No repeal or replace, and your calling it "fake news" doesn't change that. And just because we're talking about Ryancare or Trumpcare doesn't change it either.

Unless the bill repeals every word of Obamacare and replaces it with nothing, then I don’t see a reason to support it.

    The reasons are
  1. President Trump campaigned to repeal and replace Obamacare.
  2. It is necessary to improve employment prospects for millions.
  3. It is necessary to reduce taxes.
  4. It is necessary to show results now that we have a Republican House, Senate, and President. Voters need to see progress, not gridlock.
