Tropical Storm Arlene becomes first named storm of season
WKMG-TV Orlando ^ | April 20, 2017

MIAMI - A weather system in the Atlantic Ocean morphed into Tropical Storm Arlene Thursday becoming the first named storm of the year, the National Hurricane Center in Miami said.

Hurricane season runs from June 1 to Nov. 30, but last year two storms formed before the official start of the season.

Forecasters say tropical storms are rare in April and Arlene is only the second one observed in the month since weather satellites went into use.

The system is expected to dissipate Friday and no coastal watches or warnings are in effect.

Arlene is moving at 25 mph with maximum sustained winds of 45 mph.

Check back for updates on this developing story.

The alarmists at the NHC are still naming storms that would never have been named 20 years ago.

“The alarmists at the NHC are still naming storms that would never have been named 20 years ago.”

You are correct. This is not even a tropical “storm” as it is over cooler water. This is just so much bs. As you said I bet even 5 years ago this would not be named.

They’ve indoctrinated a generation with things that aren’t important, making them seem important.

And SOME things that are just plain sick making them seem normal.

I NEVER thought I’d be alive to see MALE FEMALE OTHER

or Heterosexual Homosexual Bisexual Transgender Other

on a survey or doctor’s form.

Or that i’d be getting asked if corporations are leaving a bad “carbon footprint” they can shove my carbon footprint up their ####

“Arlene, Arlene, Arlene, ARLENE...Please don’t take my man, just because you can!”

(Yes, I know it’s ‘Jolene’ but I can’t wait that long into the Bogus-Hurricane-Let’s-All-Panic-Season!)

And the loser of these ridiculously named storms are ...

The homeowner. Insurance companies apply the hurricane deductible the minute there is a ‘named’ storm.

So naming them at 35 mph winds save them money and the consumer loses.

I’m still frustrated at how the liberals politicized Hurricane Katrina.

If we get any big hurricanes during the next four years, they will be blamed on Trump. They will be said to be more severe and more intense than they would be otherwise, due to Trump’s not taking global warming seriously, yadda yadda yadda.

Since the liberals believe in not letting a crisis go to waste, you can bet that they are actually hoping we get a severe hurricane during the Trump years, so that they can push global warming some more.

Joe Bastardi has been ranting about this for a few days and says naming this storm so far out in the Atlantic this early in the season while there have been past storms of equal or greater intensity closer to the US that were not named is nothing more than agenda driven meteorology.

“is nothing more than agenda driven meteorology.”

Now that is perfect way to describe what this is.

I believe that was exposed as B.S. with Hurricane Sandy in 2012. In order for hurricane-related insurance provisions to kick in, the storm has to meet a very specific definition of a hurricane.

"Tropical Storm Arlene becomes first named storm of season"

It's not even the season yet. Heck, the season usually starts in June, yes? What's with this jumping the gun?
