FBI Says No Need For Top Official To Recuse Himself From Trump-Russia Probe (McCabe)
Daily Caller ^ | April 19 2017 | Chuck Ross

Posted on 04/20/2017 5:27:12 AM PDT by Whenifhow

A top FBI official whose wife received political donations from an ally of Hillary Clinton’s last year does not need to recuse himself from the ongoing Trump-Russia investigation, the bureau said Wednesday.

The Senate Judiciary Committee inquired last month about FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe’s role on the Trump probe, which is looking into potential collusion between the Trump campaign and Russian government.

Iowa Sen. Chuck Grassley had expressed concerns about a potential conflict of interest given that McCabe’s wife ran a state campaign in Virginia that received $700,000 from Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe, a close friend of Clinton’s.

[ ]

Grassley noted in a March 28 letter to FBI Director James Comey that the McCabes met with McAuliffe on March 7, 2015, several days after the story broke that Clinton used a private email server as secretary of state.

[ ]

In the response letter to Grassley, FBI Assistant Director Gregory Bower both confirmed that McCabe is involved in the Trump investigation and denied that a recusal was necessary.

“With respect to the questions you raised regarding Mr. McCabe recusing himself from participation in this investigation, the FBI has assessed that there is no basis in law or in fact for such a recusal,” Bower wrote.

“As the Deputy Director of the FBI, Mr. McCabe is ultimately responsible for supervising all of the FBI’s investigative activities, including the investigation referenced in your letter,” he continued, adding that McCabe has been involved in the investigation since its inception.

It is believed that the FBI opened the Trump-Russia investigation last July. As part of the probe, the bureau obtained a federal surveillance warrant to monitor the communications of Carter Page, a former Trump campaign policy adviser. Former Trump campaign advisers Paul Manafort and Roger Stone are also reportedly being investigated.

I heard via interviews weeks ago that none of the Cabinet-level agencies/departments/directorates have the ability to fire for cause. Everything goes through a process that involves separate divisions only charged with evaluating work performance. This was revealed during Congressional hearings into SS misbehavior.

Perhaps it is possible for McCabe to be reassigned? George Webb suggested that idea.

Sounds like he would have authority over the Awan brothers investigation, which George Webb has been covering.

Don’t miss this article about the “circular validation” used by our corrupt FBI and CIA to target the Russia smear against Trump. Really outstanding insights here.

Rumor is that russia is blackmailing him and fbi found out about it.

More likely the Obama administration was blackmailing him.

I wouldn’t be surprised if the people blackmailing him were our FBI/CIA acting as if they are Russians.

If the Democrats did not have double standards, they'd have no standards at all.

Maybe we need to abolish the FBI and build a replacement from scratch...one that is not an arm of the DNC.

Yes, give him a new post, a “rubber room” in NYCity School parlance, without a staff,.. one problem, he probably has already transferred all the “good” stuff to his portable data stick.
“Reassignment centers are holding facilities for the New York City Department of Education, where more than 600 teachers accused of misconduct have been paid to work full-time doing nothing for months or years at a time while awaiting resolution of their cases.[1] Among teachers they are referred to as rubber rooms.”

Apparently the FBI frequently uses this circular validation technique.

Looked at video of Congresswoman Stefanik questioning FBI director Comey again. Noted something I had missed. At about 02:20 Comey puts the “blame” for not notifying the Congress on “the Head of our Counterintelligence Division”. Who is that, and more importantly, who was that at the time (June 2016 – February 2017). Has that person been interviewed by the Congress?

This was clearly another obfuscation to provide cover for the FBI chain of command. The Counter-Intelligence Division reports to the National Security Branch, which in turn reports to the FBI Deputy Director, which in turn reports to Director Comey, who in turn reports to the Attorney General.
For Comey to suggest the “Head of the Counter-Intelligence Division” reports to Congress without the “filter” of the chain of command is an egregious lie, and a lie I’m positive did not escape those in Congress hearing this testimony. Clearly, the “fix” is in.

Evidently, judging from events, only US Attorneys can be summarily asked to resign/fired.

Comey can be fired by Pres. Trump at any time for any reason or for no reason at all. He serves 100% at the pleasure of the President. The term of the FBI Director exists to keep directors from serving forever like J. Edgar Hoover. That is, it is an upper limit only. This is long-established and undisputed.

As for McCabe, he may have some kind of civil service protections as an agent but he can be replaced by the FBI Director at any time without the need for specifying a cause.

I fully agree w/ your take on this matter....but don't ever underestimate Trump.

========================================

POSSIBLE SCENARIO: Trump announces Democrat will be pleased to know that Trump is inspired by their esteemed leader......Obama.

Trump says: "Democrats are absolutely right; I am just plain wrong for suggesting the Obama admin spied on me. After all, as Democrats said, Susan Rice was just doing her job."

Democrats are OK w/ Obama/Susan's surveilling/unmasking b/c it's "all legal."

Pres Trump announces he needs to do his job, that since this is “all legal,” his administration will step up and do the legal thing to protect Americans' safety and security.

The Trump admin will follow in Obama's footsteps....surveilling and unmasking any and all Democrats, on a continuing non-stop basis, particularly Democrats who have talked with foreign ambassadors, foreign financial groups, tropical offshore entities, and the like.

Plus, the Trump administration will ask for the “unmasking” of all those Democrats who are involved in such talks... because it is "legal."

AND Trump will use "Obama’s very own inspired legal rules" to distribute the information on Democrats to every US intelligence agency.

They are “under investigation” by the capitol police who have no ability to investigate cyber/ hacking/ spy ring.

One report said they had fled to Pakistan. However, George Webb keeps digging and his reporting has revealed so much information about democrat congress members and McCabe as the cover up agent of the Awan brothers.
