Camille Paglia: Trump Already Headed Towards Reelection, Democrats Have Overplayed Their Hand
Real Clear Politics ^ | 4/19/2017 | Tim Hains

New York Times columnist Frank Bruni moderates a 'Times Talks' discussion between legendary feminist Camille Paglia and 'Watch What Happens Live' host Andy Cohen about life in the Trump era.

Paglia says Bruni's newspaper and the Democratic Party still have "soul searching" left to do about why they called 2016 wrong. "It is incumbent upon the defeated party to pull itself together, or else we're going to get the reelection of the present administration," she said.

"I didn't take him seriously at all," she said about the early days of the Trump campaign. "And then, shortly after the very first Republican debate, I saw Diamond & Silk, the African-American sisters doing a pro-Trump attack on Megyn Kelly on their podcast, and... I suddenly saw the populism, and from that moment forward, I could feel the momentum of it."

"The New York media was in an absolute bubble about this," she added.

I think that covers it.

The left wing is unhinged. It is power and control.

They have lost it and that bank in Hollywood is drying up.

They do not control near as much and have lost over 1200 seats of power since 2010. The fascist party is losing bigtime.

It took Obama to get Trump.

America knows Obama was a complete failure.

Adams is my new must-read guy on the back side of this election cycle. Really an interesting way of looking at this election that is totally different from every other political commentator.

It doesn’t hurt that I was a subscriber to Dogbert’s New Ruling Class Newsletter back in the late 1990s, I’m thinking? Way back when, in any case. I should dig around and see if I can find any of them.

I think he will serve as long as he possibly can.

The man is nothing if not determined and he gave up a lot to serve his country.

Remember, he is only accepting one dollar of salary.

Paglia is no pretender. I disagree with her on almost everything, but she is honest and owns her views, most libs don’t.

Praying for eight glorious years of winning!!!
President Trump is going to need every bit of that time in order to clean up the mess he inherited!!!
He has, as you state, already trademarked his 2020 slogans, etc.
Moreover, he is taking over the party apparatus and putting his operatives in place, according to Politico.

3 or 4 years is an eternity in politics.

We are also headed for a major economic downturn courtesy of decades of bad policy, huge borrowing, and 8 years and counting of ridiculously low interest rates. Not Trump’s fault, but he will get the blame for it. A lot of the Democrats that voted for him this time around may well head back to the DemoCrap plantation.

I’m not negative, but I am suggesting we not get too smug either.

I agree.

It’s the first time since Reagan that I’ve been this happy with the person I voted for.

The only thing that gives me a little tremor is just how insane, ugly, banal and awful the left is. That many people who are lunatics in one country gives me pause.......

I’ve always enjoyed reading her opinion pieces but this is the first time I recall seeing her on video in some time. I don’t care how liberal her views are, it’s a free country, but I do respect her intellectual honesty. Rare amongst liberals despite how they love to trot out the “you’re not entitled to your own facts” mantra. The only “facts” they abide are those they make up, whereas Paglia lives in Realville.

Yes, she and I would also disagree, but she is very articulate and intelligent in how she attacks the left’s disingenuousness.

“I think Trump will not run for re-election.”

Sure…if he’s too physically incapacitated to run. Otherwise, I think it’s about as likely as my sprouting wings and flying to the moon.

The man who loves to win constantly talks about how he’ll be in office for eight years, which is actually a great persuasion method. By 2020, even the biggest lefties will be used to the idea of his being in office for eight years after hearing about it so many times and will no longer react in the visceral way they do now. It will give a subliminal sense of inevitability to his re-election too I think.
