BREAKING: Jon Ossoff Finishes Below 50% (Another Humiliating Democrat Defeat)
mediaite.com ^ | April 19th, 2017

This evening, all eyes were on the special election in Georgia’s Sixth Congressional District as Democrats were hoping to flip the seat that has been held by Republicans for decades. The seat recently opened up after Republican Tom Price left to take over as Secretary of Health and Human Services.

Going into the night, Democratic candidate Jon Ossoff was way up in the polls as a number of GOP hopefuls threw their hats into the ring. However, despite the fact that he was polling in the mid-40s, roughly 30 points ahead of his nearest opponent, Ossoff and Democrats knew he needed to get more support in order to gain at least 50% and avoid a runoff.

In the end, Ossoff ended up pulling in less than 50%, with totals showing him at 48.6% after a huge dump of votes came in from Fulton County around midnight, leading to numerous outlets to project this as heading to a runoff.

Boycott Hollywood at the box office and they won’t have the money to fund campaigns.

I guess not living in the district was an issue.

#14. More like a “political circle jerk” without the circle but with plenty of jerks.

Pubbies dodged a bullet tonight from gutter Democrat, Hollywoood, “Obama/Pajama Boy”, Jon Ossoff. I am certain Ms. Handel will easily defeat this misfit, low life Democrat, come the June runoff election!!! Thanks, Republicans and all the voters in the Georgia, 6th CD that made this runoff possible. and...major thanks to the POTUS, Trump for his support and assistance in gaining this victory over the low life, traitor Democrat Party!!!

It seems like he still is 14 points or more from the Democrat from November. Price won by about 22 in November. If Ossoff finishes with 48.6, that means 16 Republicans could barely beat him. If he can get all 5hose votes in the runoff, then the Republican candidate will need the votes of all the various Republican candidates.

Can the RNC not do anything about this? I’m guessing that’s part of the problem. This seems like a close call, very dangerous.

Do you think, all things being equal, the Democrat would have won?

better yet, why even have such a stupid rule..”50%” wins it outright”.. in a solid district...playing with fire and almost got burned. Just plain stupid politics.

Because there is no monolithic force in the GOP that dictates whether you can run or not.

So, there were 11 egos and no mob boss to tell 10 of them to sit down and shut up.....as in the Dem party.

Do they get to keep the money they raise maybe?

They can keep it for future campaigns but not for personal use. One key thing, though... they can pay themselves a salary from the campaign equal to the salary of the job they're running for.

Happens all the time. Favorite Dem tactic is to dilute the conservative field with a couple ringers. Usually it is some mentally deluded “libertarian” who suckers in 1 or 2 percent of the vote from fellow screwballs. These days that is often the margin in of victory for the opposition.

Some republicans not conservative enough for other republicans. Lot of beefing between candidates. Ossof almost sneaks thru with 48%. Too close.

Republicans/conservatives had better support the runner up and crush Ossoff like the millennial 30 yr old snowflake pussy man he is.

I see he interned for John Lewis and worked on the staff of Hank “Will Guam Tip Over” Johnson. I wonder how much of them rubbed off on him.

Some of those 11 gop are dem plants to split the vote. Much like Evan Mcmullin who’s a dem but joined the race in the gop side to split the gop vote
