BREAKING: Jon Ossoff Finishes Below 50% (Another Humiliating Democrat Defeat)
mediaite.com ^ | April 19th, 2017

This evening, all eyes were on the special election in Georgia’s Sixth Congressional District as Democrats were hoping to flip the seat that has been held by Republicans for decades. The seat recently opened up after Republican Tom Price left to take over as Secretary of Health and Human Services.

Going into the night, Democratic candidate Jon Ossoff was way up in the polls as a number of GOP hopefuls threw their hats into the ring. However, despite the fact that he was polling in the mid-40s, roughly 30 points ahead of his nearest opponent, Ossoff and Democrats knew he needed to get more support in order to gain at least 50% and avoid a runoff.

In the end, Ossoff ended up pulling in less than 50%, with totals showing him at 48.6% after a huge dump of votes came in from Fulton County around midnight, leading to numerous outlets to project this as heading to a runoff.

Since when did you think they aquired the courage and will to win? To run, sure... keep leftover campaign funds and enjoy their five minutes of fame? Yes, but to govern or legislate, um no.

Especially as Ossoff’s character (shacking up with a woman for 12 years) and carpetbagger status (doesn’t live in the district) becomes more widely discussed.

Plus this guy has the Clinton habit of lying even when he doesn't have to.

When asked about living outside the district, he says that he lives "a mile and a half down the road" from the Sixth District so he can support his girlfriend, so she can walk to classes at Emory Medical School.

When pressed about this, he makes the mile-and-a-half claim, over and over again.

Two minutes on Google Maps reveals that Emory Medical School if four and a half miles from the Sixth District.

So, either he is lying about the mile and a half, or he is forcing his girfriend (of 12 years) to walk at least three miles to school every day... Probably uphill, both ways...

Why not just tell the truth? Is it so much worse to admit that you live four miles away? Is four vs one and a half going to change the mind of even one voter?

But he lies when he doesn't have to. Then when pressed on it, he doubles down by lying over and over again.

All I have seen and heard here in Georgia are Ossoff ads with the exception of one Handel radio ad about a week ago. The media saturation of Ossoff was massive too. And every ad portrayed him as a right of center democrat and stated nothing about any kind of anger towards Trump.

Bottom line, the "make Trump mad" stuff didn't even play into Ossoff's strategy in the least. In any event, Ossoff appears to have done slightly better than Hillary, and based on the media ads to date, I am sure the GOP has plenty in reserve and is going to unleash the cracken for the June runoff.

I will never understand our Republican willingness to cannibalize our own candidates.

Because half of them are democRATs.

(RATs/RINOs...same thing)

NBC Today Show this morning: Ossoff almost pulled off a huge upset in Georgia....

No kidding, they made it sound like he practically won. Lol

So, now the Republican gets to beat up on him for the next two months...

How far do you live outside the district? Is it one mile or four? Why did you lie about that, over and over again?

Are you going to move back into the district, now that you are a general election candidate? If not, why not? Don’t you like us up here in the Sixth?

Or, if he moves back...

How could you abandon your girlfriend like that? I thought you were supporting her...

I imagine the term “Carpetbagger” has particular resonance in Georgia.

No kidding, they made it sound like he practically won. Lol

...And Hillary Clinton (who will never be President) was only 85,000 votes short of winning in November...

I have no problem with Democrats almost winning...

“Here’s a tally of the votes.

Total votes: 192,084
Dem: 93,911
GOP: 98,173

GOP vote lead by 4,262”

There’s a wider problem here though. Past results in the Georgia 6th:

2016 Tom Price (R) 61.7% vs Stookesbury (D) 38.3%
2014 Tom Price (R) 66% vs Montigel (D) 34%
2012 Tom Price (R) 64% vs Kazanow (D) 35%

In Presidential elections in that district
2008 McCain 62% vs Obama 37%
2012 Romney 61% vs Obama 38%
2016 Trump 48% vs Clinton 47%

This should not even be a close district, Rs had been winning it by 20+ points. Seems like there’s a lot of NeverTrump R votes either staying home or going D.

Add to that the results from the recent Kansas 4th special election, where a 25-30 point safe R seat was won by only 7% and it is starting to look like there’s a big swing against Rs going on in the House. This is very bad news for 2018, or even sooner if the GOP start panicking and run from Trump.

“Trump would NEVER have gotten the nomination if there were only two or three other candidates on the GOP side.”

Hmm. In the end there were only 2 and Trump still won.

Rightly or wrongly, I’ve gotten the impression since the Presidential election that Republicans have taken to denying Democrats their typical delay and late vote dump tactic by doing it themselves. Seems to have thrown the Dem machine off its game, since they don’t know how many votes they need to generate.

Rats shot the moon on this election.
They’ll turn their dark money fire somewhere else now and their pajama boy Osoff will be left to fend for himself.

Republican will win by 10 points in 6 weeks.
