Sen. Joni Ernst (R-Iowa) said on Tuesday that President Trump's frequent trips to his Mar-a-Lago residence in Florida bother not only her, but other members of the Republican caucus.
"I do wish he would spend more time in Washington, D.C.," Ernst said during a town hall meeting. "That's what we have the White House for."
Since he took office, Trump has spent seven out of the last 13 weekends at his self-described "Southern White House" in Palm Beach. The visits have stirred controversy, in part because of the enormous costs associated with such frequent travel.
One estimate of the weekend trips by CNN placed the cost so far above $20 million, putting Trump on track to spend more on travel in his first year in office than former President Barack Obama spent in eight years.
Before becoming president, Trump frequently assailed Obama for his excessive travel and vacations, arguing that the then-president should stay in Washington to work rather than play golf on the weekends.
"I think that has been bothering not just me but some other members of our caucus," Ernst said of Trump's Mar-a-Lago trips.

Trump will save this nation a vast sum that will make the cost of these trips look like chicken feed, by the time he’s done.
Trump works long hours and is dedicated to bringing this nation back to it’s prime status.
How he chooses to unwind at the end of the week, is fine with me.
We just had an idiot for eight years that screwed us into the ground at every opportunity, and was constantly taking vacations. That’s now what I see going on here at all.

He’s not doing anything important, like brokering a deal with China to squeeze North Korea and, maybe, shut NK down while avoiding a war. Nothing important at all; maybe Joni should shut up and try and accomplish something useful like helping Trump repeal Obama care and pass tax reform.

I am all for Trump taking the weekend t o unwind at Mara Largo. Unlike his predecesor, he works all week. He shouldngo down and recharge on the weekend.
Also, the $$ amount being reported is TOTALLY FAKE. Judicial Watch got the travel data, and it is 66% less than what's being reported.
Trump most likely works about 16 hours per day M-F. Then he works at Mar A Lago. Joni needs to bug off.
