Sen. Joni Ernst (R-Iowa) said on Tuesday that President Trump's frequent trips to his Mar-a-Lago residence in Florida bother not only her, but other members of the Republican caucus.
"I do wish he would spend more time in Washington, D.C.," Ernst said during a town hall meeting. "That's what we have the White House for."
Since he took office, Trump has spent seven out of the last 13 weekends at his self-described "Southern White House" in Palm Beach. The visits have stirred controversy, in part because of the enormous costs associated with such frequent travel.
One estimate of the weekend trips by CNN placed the cost so far above $20 million, putting Trump on track to spend more on travel in his first year in office than former President Barack Obama spent in eight years.
Before becoming president, Trump frequently assailed Obama for his excessive travel and vacations, arguing that the then-president should stay in Washington to work rather than play golf on the weekends.
"I think that has been bothering not just me but some other members of our caucus," Ernst said of Trump's Mar-a-Lago trips.

Wonder what this RINO DC elite thinks about past presidents relaxing at their retreats while still doing the nation's business. The President of the United States conducted very important business with the leader of China at that location. I believe that to be a good move for a setting that China's Premier would feel more comfortable to accept Trump's negotiations. It's the "Art of the Deal".

There’s a reason for that, and it is not personal travel. It is business travel. Also, we know from the Lewandowski incident that Trump keeps his own surveillance and recordings.

Next time someone brings this up....Obama made over 450 fundraising trips while president...add 10 trips to Hawaii...8 trips to Martha’s Vineyard and you get over 450,000 miles flown on OUR dime!!

Obama always went golfing on WEEKDAYS, then spent lavish weekends hosting rappers and movie stars at the WH on our dime.
By CNN's calculations it costs ten times as much to fly 2.5 hours to stay 2 nights in a place he owns than it does for Obama to fly 10 hours to Hawaii to stay 2 weeks in rented places. How does that math add up?
