At the trap club I shoot at, there used to be a collection of old American Rifleman magazines there that you could leaf through casually. I can remember on one occasion reading one from the 1950s and even though Ike could not make their annual convention, he sent his kind regards.
It just seemed odd to read about something like that that probably raised no eyebrows whatsoever back then, and to think now about what kind of a reaction in Homowood and the elite media a President doing even something like that would garner.

Heard an ad for the NRA convention on the radio this afternoon here in Atlanta. Sounds like most of the convention is open to the public with a ticket. Plus there’s going to be a Hank Williams Jr. concert.
