Former New Mexico Gov. Gary Johnson, the two-time Libertarian Party presidential candidate, says he’s lost faith in the electoral process and vowed never to run again. He will now focus all his efforts on legalizing marijuana.
Govs. Johnson and Weld became the first ticket of any party to feature two governors since the 1948 presidential election and ended up receiving nearly 4.5 million votes nationally, far more than his 2012 popular vote total. While still not a viable electoral force, the 2016 presidential election marked the Libertarian Party’s most successful presidential run to date and the most successful third-party candidacy since Ross Perot in 1996.

From the way he looked and spoke every time he was interviewed or at a debate; I believe he was always a “weed warrior” — this will be nothing new for him.
Just for once I would like a Libertarian to say "Yes, I want pot legalized. But it is about fiftieth on the list of rights that need to be protected from the federal government, not number one. And you're an idiot for wanting to get stoned."
The LPUSA got totally played this time around, and made to look like a bunch of amateurs.
They nominated a pair of guys who had no interest in classical liberalism/libertarianism, and in many cases embraced aspects of Leftism instead.
And William Weld? Can you imagine a supposed libertarian (and Republican) suggesting that Hillary Clinton would be a suitable choice as President? It's a complete inversion of the LPUSA core principles, not to mention the GOP's...
I like Gary, but the LP can do better.

Didn’t win, so he has lost faith in the electoral system. There are probably too many Leppos for him in the system.

It’s not the numbers as we saw but the distribution of the numbers, and in that matter Johnson-Weld performed most unsatisfactorily. He couldn’t even hold his own NM against Mrs. Bill.
Nope.
Good news for Liz Warren. If Gary Johnson doesn’t run, there’s no way that she will place third in 2020.
