I was wondering how an air burst would work on tunnels, but after seeing the shape of the valley it would qualify as an enclosed area.
Can someone invert the colors on that?
Video is in IR. You can see the blast wave. The size of the explosion is insane.
I assume the bomb is GPS guided not laser targeted? The aircraft filming that must have know the exact coordinates of the drop as the bomb hit right where the cross hairs were on the camera.
Get a load of that shock wave, and then all the dust and dirt rushing toward the center to feed the ascending fireball.
Yes, the MOAB is GPS guided. As well, if you watch closely, the bomb lands to the right and outside of the crosshairs. I’m sure the plane watching knew the location of where the bomb was intended to hit.
Public information says it is GPS and guided by grid fins. There maybe other methods that are secret, but it is guided.
At the 4 to 5 second mark you can see the bomb approaching.
It’s amazing how quickly the blast filled the whole valley. I suspect the blast front travelled at the speed of sound. I’m used to seeing blast videos in slow motion.
I’m glad they dropped it, but disappointed in the delivery METHOD. I realize that the weapon is too large and heavy to fit in a bomber’s bomb bay. But seeing that pallet go rolling out of the plane, and the weapon falling away from the pallet and dropping toward earth, from a plane travelling 100+ mph; I doubt if the weapon impacted within 5 miles of the actual cave where the ragheads were/still are. Good shock & awe, maybe. But that’s all.
