Those other amendments are annoyances, or rather the fanciful interpretations of them by the judiciary are pestiferous but they are not fundamental to the loss of the Republic. The 17th changed the Federal Government into a National Government and the States into Provinces. The 16th gave the central government control of the assets of the nation and way too much money for a healthy government. The 19th gave the franchise to the half+ of the population that is by and large not concerned with liberty but with security for themselves and their children and with making everyone act nice. Married women, especially with children, tend to be conservative. They have their security. Unmarried women are looking for a husband and the Government will do if the men are unwilling to marry and settle down. More and more that is the case as marriage is made more and more legally disadvantageous to men.
