China Warns North Korea Situation Has Hit "Tipping Point", Threatens "Never Before Seen" Measures
Zerohedge ^ | April 12, 2017 | Tyler Durden

After warnings yesterday, and on the heels of a "very good call" with President Trump, China has escalated its threats to North Korea over its nuclear tests. In another Global Times op-ed, China warns "if the North makes another provocative move this month, the Chinese society will be willing to adopt severe restrictive measures that have never been seen before..."

Yesterday's editorial in the military-focused Global Times tabloid, owned and operated by the Communist Party's People's Daily newspaper, said that North Korea’s nuclear activities must not jeopardize northeastern China, and that if the North impacts China with its illicit nuclear tests through either "nuclear leakage or pollution", then China will respond with force.

It must be a variant of the QBZ.

“The LAST thing SK wants is millions of NK refugees flooding into Seoul.”

I agree totally.

For all the talk of reunification, the South would be overwhelmed in so many ways - even if it were just a matter of feeding and housing refugees.

Sure would like to be a fly on a wall there.

This does bode well, because it would seem that if Putin was angry, he would have read him the riot act and booted his posterior in minutes.

It would also seem that this is too long to be covering just this incident. That could be covered in 30-60 minutes.

This would seem to have moved on to other topics, something Putin wouldn’t do if he were truly furious.

We may see some gains with Russia out of this.

Of course this is pure speculation. Things may not be a rosy as I have laid them out.

The Chicoms have to know this nutball is crazy enough to use nukes on them as they are on the US, South Korea and Japan. Someone needs to make appeals to the Nork generals to make a decision, you want to live and live comfortably then fat boy needs to take the dirt nap along with all his relatives.

These are reasonable conclusions. As you say, you don’t need 2 hours to say, “We aren’t changing anything.”

Celebrate.

If the North Korean situation was with Mexico instead, you’d better believe we’d have troops massing on the U.S./Mexico border. And we’d probably end up invading and occupying.

"China invades NK and annexes the territory. What would the US and SK do?"

With the way China's economy is more on the ropes than most know [1] (or that they want the world to know), and with 100's of millions of their own poor [2], I would be surprised if they would want to annex NK and absorb their 10's of millions of extremely poor. Such a move would most likely put their tenuous economic situation in a tailspin.

This of course doesn't address the language or cultural differences they would need to absorb.

A far better scenario for them would be to keep the NK buffer, but with a strong (& compliant) military dictatorship in place.

I believe the whole reason China tolerates the Norks is that they are communist and in between them and US troops. Which is to say it’s a lot easier for all concerned to care less: the NORKs serve a purpose to the. ChiComs without being vital.

I’m guessing that if they do anything it will be to either rope in Kim or replace him with communist junta more agreeable to the purposes of the junta in Beijing.

But China has been trying to get friendlier with South Korea, they know in the long-run South Korea will prevail on the Peninsula. That’s why their best possible outcome is to make a deal that let’s the South be comfortable with kicking out the US. That’s what China really wants, the US gone from the Peninsula, one way or the other.

Thanks LS.

It could have gotten ugly too, I suppose. FoxNews sent a text that Tillerson is describing relations with Russia are at a low point.

Reading between those lines isn’t that difficult. Sorry to hear it.

Eh, sometimes things need to happen, and they do. How others see them is up to them.
