SoS says Estes winning, so far, by 2000 votes, 51-48. About 60 percent of precincts reporting. If he wins, it will be ugly but at least it will be a win.

Another county holding back its results is Harvey, county seat Newton. The ‘Rat is ahead of Estes by 8 votes, with 18 of the county’s 38 precincts yet to report.

Decision Desk HQ showing the following totals:

Ron Estes (Republican) 51.3% 39,299
James Thompson (Democratic) 46.9% 35,866

Our guy is ahead by about 3,400 votes. Looking a lot better than it did a while ago.

Butler County, county seat El Dorado (home of KPHN AM 1360 Catholic radio in southern Kansas), just completed its count, and Estes gained about 500 votes from the final ten precincts to win the county 6,937 to 3,902.

Kansas is turning purple. Don’t understand it but I don’t like it at all.
