Monday on Laura Ingraham’s nationally syndicated radio show, conservative commentator Pat Buchanan discussed the possibility of the United States escalating its involvement in the Syrian civil war days after President Donald Trump launched a military strike on a Syrian airbase in responding to the Syrian government’s alleged use of chemical weapons.

Buchanan noted the biggest cheerleaders of Trump’s action were Sens. John McCain (R-AZ), Lindsey Graham (R-SC) and Marco Rubio (R-FL), which he deemed to be “the war party.” However, argued that they would not “get the war they want” from Trump.

“It’s McCain and Graham and Marco Rubio — the war party,” Buchanan said. “But let me say this, Laura — my view is they’re not going to get the war they want.

So do I.

Reagan didn’t go into Libya after bombing Khadaffy either.

Hope he is right. The glee and lust for more from the war party has been very discouraging the last few days.

I hope this is true. Watching McCain wet his adult diaper, unable to contain his glee when he first found out about the strike, made me ill. I noticed this morning he was already demanding more military strikes and blaming Trump for the gasing. Jerk.

If we end up with a large scale deployment of troops in Syria for regime change or “safe zones”, I will become “anti-Trump”.

McCain, Rubio and Graham, all owned by George Soros, so Soros isn’t going to get the war he wanted either.

If Russia backs down and Assad is removed, everybody can save their faces, call it a win, and not have war. If, however, Assad remains and him (or false flags ops) continue to kill civilians, it becomes impossible to not have a war to remove him. Just stating facts.

I think Trump has his head screwed on straight and understands the difference between a Reaganesque surgical strike (ex. Libya) versus a hare-brained Bush-like “war” (ex. Iraq). Unlike Bush, who’s miserable diversions brought failure to capture bin Laden and idiotic moves like invading Iraq, Trump will keep his eye on the ball and go after and destroy ISIS and halt the invasion of Islamic enemies into America.

God bless Trump.

"Large scale deployment of troops"? Has the President suggested this?

As for "safe zones", the presence of those would mean that there will be fewer refugees, and the President clearly stated his support for safe zones during the campaign...

Trump’s missile strike was both a measured military response to the use of chemical weapons and a strong message to the rest of the world. It need not escalate any further.

How about invasion(err liberation), Nation building, Democracy and add a few million refugees?

But we will need lots of uneducated army grunts to do that. Where do we get them?

I know, how about the undocumented??

Citizenship for enlisting?

Think those three would go for that?

Oh God, I find myself agreeing with Pat Buchanan. I hope Trump does not give the war party what it wants.

A safe zone is not possible without a couple hundred thousand troops.

If Jordanian, Saudi and Turk, I’m OK with it.

But I’m not OK with US troops on Syrian soil, even the 1000 or so there now.

The problem with sending our troops into places like that is two-fold:

1.) We allow our aversion to bad P.R. to temper our ferocity.

2.) Because Democrats will eventually return to power, we lack the necessary follow-up.

Bush should have stomped on Iraq on his way to Iran. The last time we fought for long-lasting victory was WWII.

So, yeah, we need to stay out.
