National Economics Editorial ^ | April 7, 2017 | Dylan Scott

Illegal immigrants, and their children, cost Texans a net $12.36 billion a year. That works out to roughly $6,000 per alien.

"Of this, $10.03 billion came out of taxpayer pockets.

Given that Texas’s biennial budget for 2016-2017 was 209.4 billion this means that illegal immigrants eat up 9.6% of their budget ended up being spent spent on illegal immigrants.

Let’s look at it another way: for every $9 Texas spends on its citizens, it spends $1 on illegal aliens."

Article doesn't assign a cost for the lost income for American citizens due to wage depression, caused by the labor market being flooded with extra low-skill workers, nor the cost of unemployment on US citizens.

Although even without that, costs are still high.

It also will take deporting 7500 per day for four years to get rid of the lowball eleven million figure. Time’s a wastin’.

How many lives are ruined by their rapes, especially of children, and how many citizens are murdered by their drunkenness and drug use? That is the terrible cost that Texas and other border states have suffered because of the federal government’s failure to protect our border with Mexico.

Looks like this is only Texas money; it does not count what these illegals are getting from federal handouts.

After seeing community attacks on ICE’s leadership I think it would be a great idea to have an ICE appreciation rally.

A better way to put it: for every $10 a Texas taxpayer sends to Austin, $1 is spent on support for somebody who isn’t supposed to be in the state.

Thank Scotus. In the 1980s the SJW court felt that illegal aliens are entitled to all the public benefits of citizens . . . including public schools.

Beat it out of the city councils of Texas sanctuary cities.

Yes, but we’re a nation of immigrants. Of course, immigrants used to come here to become Americans. They didn’t demand that Americans speak foreign tongues and adopt foreign cultures. They also didn’t join the social welfare state and expect Americans to take care of them.

All good points. How about the cost of cartel affiliated drug importers saturating our neighborhoods with all manner of addictive and destructive substances and the related carnage that entails? Are those costs figured in? I highly doubt it. And objective tally of the true costs associated with this invasion would be truly shocking.

Send the bill to Dubya and Obama. They both wanted amnesty and wouldn’t enforce the border.

Sounds like Texas needs to tax all residents who can’t show legal residence $6000/yr.

get rid of the lowball eleven million figure

Texas is 52% Hispanic, 29% White and 13% Black. Granted all Hispanics are not illegal but a large percent are. Yes, that eleven million figure is too low. Some towns in Central Texas, a long way from the border, are 60% Hispanic. This is why demoncraps are slobbering at the bit for the Lone Star state to turn purple.

Your statistics are condradicted by the US Census.

Their 2015 numbers are:

White alone, not hispanic or latino - 43%

Hispanic or Latino - 38.8%

Whites were 45% in the 2010 census, and hispanics 37.6%, so the Mexicans gained some ground.

But it's pretty fragile ground if you simply assume that upwards of 25% of them are deportable. Even more fragile if you realize that birthright citizenship for the children of illegals may soon be a thing of the past.

And we should make all that come true as soon as possible. The descendants of Santa Anna and the massacres of the Alamo and Goliad have no business inheriting the state of Texas.

Sure, because illegals mailed in their Census. You’ll be closer to the true number by checking school enrollment.
