Western ignorance of Islam’s “troublesome” doctrines. It is this connection that allows Islam’s apologists to get away with so many distortions and outright lies meant to shield Islam.

mohammedanism is anti-reality and anti-reason. It is repulsive to reason.

This puts me in mind of Pope Benedict XVI's 2006 "Regensburg Lecture" on "Faith and Reason" which caused --- well, you remember.

In his lecture, the Pope quoted a passage about Islam made at the end of the 14th century by Manuel II Palaiologos, the Byzantine emperor.

"Show me just what Muhammad brought that was new and there you will find things only evil and inhuman, such as his command to spread by the sword the faith he preached."

The reaction was not instantaneous, because the Pope was speaking in German, and German-Arabic translations for general --- let alone Catholic --- news are comparatively few and slow. But once the buzz got around the Islamosphere, the Muslims claimed their feelings were quite hurt. They are peaceable! They are reasonable! How unfair that anyone should imply that their religious movement might be violent!

And this was followed by rioting on 3 continents, and when the smoke cleared, I think it was 19 dead. Including an elderly Italian nun, a pediatric nurse, who was shot in the back outside of a children's clinic in Libya.
