Freepers may remember that I was among those continually excoriating Mitch McConnell for his duplicitous actions in his war against conservatives.

However, he deserves tremendous praise today! Good job, Senator!!

Say what you will re. MM but the author of this article has tremendous respect for the man. Few people attract this type of solid thoughtful non-fanboy support. It makes me like MM...almost.

I agree, the long game was begun many years ago. UpChuckie has some ‘splainin to do for his inept actions. New York just might send a more centrist Damocrat to the Senate in his place. Seeing UpChuckie get his balls rattled is so entertaining. He deserves the worst, in the end.

Chuckles went off the deep end by insisting that President Trump withdraw Gorsuch’s nomination and “work with decocrats to identify a mainstream candidate”. What’s that? Just like O-Vomit did when he nominated those far-left whackos Kagan and Sotomayor? Yeah, Shoo-mie baby, we’ll get right on that for ya.

Those two are every bit as far left as Gorsuch is right. “Elections have consequences”, according to your Grand Imperial Poohbah, and you lost. Now it’s Republican’s fault for not “allowing” someone “mainstream”? O-Vomit didn’t allow any such dissenting opinion.

Oh, and another thing. Judge Gorsuch rules for big corporations when big corporations have been on the right side if the issue. He rules for the little guy when the little guy is right. The Supreme Court is NOT there to even scores. They’re there to interpret the constitution according to the LAW. Liberals see SCOTUS as a playground referee making sure that no one gets more wins than the other. Just like Roberts observed when ruling for Obbamacare, the Supreme court is not the safety valve for bad legislation. The are plenty of bad laws which are nonetheless constitutional. It’s congress’ job to pass good laws. Stop looking at the Supreme Court as a do-over.

Ironic. I'd say that Judge Gorsuch is many more times main stream than Chuck Schumer.

And, yes, you're right. Senator McConnell does indeed deserve praise.

Nice puff piece. Are you the author?

The final vote was 52-48. Yes, that means both Linda and Insane voted to terminate the rule.

If you recall, both of these two blood-thirsty neocons have been demanding an expansion of US imperial wars. Why is Trump now sounding like he supports a Syrian gambit even though it's obviously a false flag?

Policy wonks who get off on the details of parliamentary procedure and other arcane rules are either: (a) clueless; or (b) desperate to sell content.

The real game going on in the current civil war are agreed upon exchanges of assets in return for support of other projects & programs. It's a two-way street - Trump wants funding, confirmations and legal support. The Deep state wants to satisfy its lust for a global conflagration.

The final vote on Gorsuch doesn’t happen until tomorrow, at the earliest.

I will reserve judgement until that has occurred.

As I wrote in an earlier post,

Schumer is the filibuster king. As a freshman Democrat from New York, he broke what he called a taboo to say the Senate publicly should make ideology a factor in confirming judges. He vowed to oppose any nominee for confirmation by President G.W. Bush.

Never has any party used the filibuster anytime in our nation’s history like Schumer. Before Schumer, it was a rarity for a nominee to the Supreme Court to be held up with a filibuster. Even the contentious nomination of Clarence Thomas was confirmed with a simple vote.

Schumer joined then-Sen. Barack Obama in voting against cloture on the nomination of Samuel Alito to the Supreme Court. In 2003, Schumer accused Bush’s nominee to the 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, Charles Pickering, of opposing civil rights. The Senate Judiciary Committee in March 2002 voted 10-9 to block the nomination, when the Senate was under Democratic control. Bush renominated Pickering in January 2003 after Republicans recaptured the Senate, but Democrats, with Schumer’s leadership, filibustered the nomination.

Schumer also led the charge against the confirmation of Miguel Estrada to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit. He did everything in his power to deny Estrada a simple up-or-down vote on the floor of the Senate — a vote that would have confirmed Estrada with bipartisan support. Seven cloture votes were filed on the Estrada nomination. Schumer voted against cloture each time. After nearly two-and-a-half years after Estrada was first nominated to the D.C. Estrada withdrew his name from consideration.

Eight other conservative court of appeals nominees were also filibustered. These 8 were Priscilla Owen, Carolyn Kuhl, David W. McKeague, Henry Saad, Richard Allen Griffin, William H. Pryor, William Gerry Myers III and Janice Rogers Brown.[

This is how Schumer blocks confirmations to uphold his ideological litmus test.

Brave New World and Mitch has accepted it.

Many Senators home by 3 tomorrow.

Gorsuch on the Court immediately.

Schumer can lie all he wants, he lost.
