I know I’m just an armchair general, but I get the sense that this is a trap, that Trump will be playing right into ISIS tricks.

I hope Trump is smarter than that.

There is no military action to be taken against Assad. There is only WWIII.

Sorry, but it makes perfect sense he would do it..

He’s done it before, and don’t give me those previous attacks were bogus, the evidence is undeniable. Isis wasn’t dropping barrel bombs on cities... if you believe that you are just a fool.

He’s done it multiple times in the past... and with a new administration, there is no reason to think he wouldn’t test it again. Remember, he pretty much got away with it before, when Obama painted himself into a naive corner then was given a bogus last second out that was garbage to begin with.

Assad is not a nice guy, and there is no reason at all to not believe he would indeed do this again to test the new administration. These false flag reports are garbage folks. IF you are falling for them you are beyond naive. Whether he personally ordered it, or his generals etc did it on their own, is irrelevant. Testing the new administration after the 8 years of pussy leadership would be par for the course for Assad or anyone like him.

Although there may be a considerable population in Syria (Kurd, Sunni, Shiite) who want nothing to do with the mayhem and want peace, we have to realize that there is nothing to be gained by getting involved in that country.

Assad’s only barely redeeming point is that he’s promised to protect Christians in that nation. Other than that, he’s basically turned the nation into a satellite of Hezbollah, Iran and Russia. I get the feeling that he’s become a puppet for these groups.

On the other side, we have the ISIS/Al-Qaeda faction. There’s nothing whatsoever redeeming about them either. Their desire to create a head-chopping monument-destroying pan-Arab caliphate is most alarming.

Even among the more secular groups like the Free Syrian Army, their numbers and firepower are not substantial enough to make it worth backing them. In fact, they appear to have underperformed.

The best thing that can happen (for both us and israel) is that a military stalemate continues to grind on and on.

Assad’s dad was a genocidal ruler, and he is too. putin is his enabler. They barely attack ISIS. The USA, or allies, and the Kurds, and some Arabs are taking them out. Assad doesn’t care how many people he murders.

Yep. DT’s strength is domestic. The neo-cons continue their wars.

There are no good guys in the Middle East. The enemy of our enemy is our enemy. To quote a friend of mine “turn the whole area to molten sand”.

First, Trump would not be telegraphing his actions. Second, the full investigation is not in. Third, we are again treated to deep state unnamed sources.
Wasting time and digital energy!

OK, so, in essence, you are saying he IS that stupid. I get that.

Has he done it since the Russians moved in to help?

If they thought that committing a “false flag” attack would get the US involved in destroying Assad, I don’t think they would hesitate one bit.

President Trump needs to play the Lib game. Take it to the UN. No more American blood or treasure should be spent dealing with these savages. Let the UN handle it. That’s what we pay them to do.

“Too many lefty 0bamaites embedded in the spy agencies, who would like nothing better than to trip Trump.”

Which is exactly why the swamp needed to be drained right from the get-go.

Failure to rid your house of termites and it’s only a matter of time until it collapses, no matter how well your interior decorator is.

And playing nice with the neocon nutjobs is also a losing proposition.

The FSA is doing better than any other force on the ground against ISIS.

This is bad news. I had hoped Trump would have the discipline to ignore the neo-Cons. Looks like the uni-party strikes again.

You obviously have not watched the film or followed any of the story.
The dead children were reportedly kidnapped last week and taken to an ISIS bunker.
The “emergency” team used no protection handling poisoned victims.
What was purported sarin doing in the bunker with these children?
Clearly they were poisoned but not with a contact gas.
The story as presented by ISIS is swiss cheese.

If Trump starts behaving like that idiot Bush, you can expect to see the pubbies start to lose it all and the number of people trying to get him removed greatly increase. IMHO, any mideast ventures beyond small advisory or tactical teams should be cut off at the knees.
