At least three possible bidders have emerged to purchase the Miami Marlins baseball team including one representing the countrys most prominent political family, and one representing a future Hall of Famer, the FOX Business Network has learned.
Former New York Yankees star shortstop Derek Jeter has expressed interest in bidding for the team, according to people with direct knowledge of the matter. He is being represented in talks with Marlins president David Samson by veteran Wall Street executive and former Morgan Stanley (MS) brokerage chief Gregory Fleming, who now runs his own investment banking boutique, the people say.
Another major contender is a group headed by former Florida Governor and one-time GOP presidential candidate Jeb Bush, who is teaming up with Citigroup (C) to finance a possible official bid, these people add.

Battered Marlins?
I thought: Did they find a bunch of classic rifles?
Miami might be soccer and b-ball town.
I still wonder why hockey teams are located in cities that never get snow.
Yeah, I was thinking you possibly were, LOL.
Reminded me of the Brady Bunch movie:
Marcia Brady: Oh those are pretty pictures, what have you modeled for?
Model: Guess.
Marcia Brady: Are you a Breck girl?
Model: No, Guess Jeans.
Marcia Brady: Levi’s? Wrangler? Osh Kosh B’Gosh?
;)
One of the biggest problems with the Marlins...I live in Orlando and have the MLB TV package to watch my team’s games. Every Marlins game is blocked out here. We live 4 hours away, and I barely know they exist. I’d probably go down for at least a game a year if not more, but I could hardly name a player. Stupid is as stupid does for blacking out FL media markets.
Miami is the ultimate fair-weather fan city. Even when the Dolphins were good, they rarely sold out their games.
I live in the Dallas area and Astros games are blacked out. There is no way to watch them on Dallas TV. I guess it’s the same situation.
Just to clarify, it’s the times I’m wanting to tune in to see the Astros lose. Don’t want to come across as a fan.
Personally, I like my Marlin smoked with a wedge of lemon.
Florida Hillbilly Hayrides for the fans at $1M each.
They’ve tried soccer a few times in Miami, it didn’t work out.
Cubans aren’t into soccer. But Cuban baseball fans have long-standing loyalties to other teams, especially the Yankees.
If you have decent Internet there is an easy way to avoid the block out for about $5 per month.
Hey look! A U.S. President next to a tippy-toes five-year-old!
Florida must pay it’s governor well for him to be able to buy a baseball team.
Maybe he will just be the executive. He did a good job running a presidential campaign.
It's rare I really want to see a Marlins game, as we get the rest of the games going on, but occasionally there is a game I'd like to see that's blacked out. Probably not important enough to add another fee, though. I was mostly saying how dumb their blackout rules are. They are a team struggling for fans and ignore much of their home state. Silly short-sightedness.
Hopefully this will keep the Bush family busy so they can stop undermining our country.
Apparently, Jebbie and Jeter now own the Marlins. Final stage of the deal being worked out.
