Sen. McConnell has been very strong since Justice Scalia passed away. But for his steadfastness, Merrick Garland would have been appointed to the Supreme Court already.

My guess is that the demonrats will blink and allow Gorsuch to be confirmed without a filibuster.

McCain will support the rules right up until he won’t. The man has never met a back he did not want to stab.

“Why is McCain the person that the media ALWAYS turns to for commentary on Republican efforts in the senate...?”

Because he’s the rino most likely to agree with the media’s talking points.

Well said and I agree with you. They will bluff on the filibuster but not do it saving it for the next round. Mclame and Linda probably promised Schumer something in return to not filibuster this time.

“To be fair, McConnell is the only reason we are even talking about confirming Gorsuch”

This is true. I though for sure Mitch would cave on this. I also think we have to thank the MSM for convincing the rats they were a lock to get Hillary in. Obongo didn’t push that hard for Garland because they they thought they had it in the bag. I still think they were planning on having Obo fill the seat once the witch got in. Imagine the rats ecstasy of replacing Scalia with Obama.

The make-up of the senate won’t change over the next six years so it either happens now or it will happen under the next democrap usurper.

I heard that Collins was on board with this, and that Murkowski was the hold out.

These two both have to be watched. They voted against DeVos because of the NEA and the NEA came out against Gorsuch last week

Roberts’ picture is in the dictionary under “disappointment”.

I honestly can’t think of one thing more disappointing than John Roberts.

To be fair, McConnell is the only reason we are even talking about confirming Gorsuch. He refused to cave on giving Garland consideration and kept the SCOTUS opening available for a potential GOP president.
Hear, hear!!

In actual fact there is a satisfactory "half-way” position. The Republicans don’t have to abolish the filibuster for all SCOTUS nominees - only those whose names have been put forward as SCOTUS timber by a presidential candidate prior to winning election.

Stick that in your pipe and smoke it, Chuckie!

Why is McCain the person that the media ALWAYS turns to for commentary on Republican efforts in the senate...?

Because they know he will say something against the Pubbie party line at least nine times out of ten. And that will then be reported as the way Pubbies in the Senate "feel".

“I just hope Gorsuch doesn’t turn out to be another disappointment like Roberts, Kennedy and Souter. We can’t really know until they get on the court.”

I never thought we would find Roberts to be worse than Kennedy & Souter, but he single-handedly saved Obamacare forever by effectively rewriting the law to declare a mandate/penalty a tax.

Obamacare is the new Social Security—RINOs may tinker around the edges and rename it (another bonehead move) but it will remain a permanent government entitlement program, one that enslaves all Americans, by design.

Thanks, John Benedict Arnold Roberts. I guess it should have been a tip-off that any kid who in childhood decides he wants to be a Supreme Court justice would sell his soul to retain that position. That was the biggest red flag for me regarding Cruz’s presidential aspirations (followed closely by wearing a Princeton class ring). Although cutting Cruz some slack, it’s a bit less weird for a kid to say he wants to grow up to be President than to say he wants to grow up to be a Supreme Court judge.
