The grandfather of a dead teenage robber criticized an Oklahoma man for using an AR-15 to defend himself against the group of burglars Friday.
Leroy Schumacher, the grandfather, said there was no reason his grandson had to die over the attempted robbery, reports KTUL.
What these three boys did was stupid, Schumacher told KTUL. They knew they could be punished for it but they did not deserve to die.
Jacob Redfearn, his grandson, and two other teens, Maxwell Cook and Jake Woodruff , were fatally shot by Zach Peters when they tried to break into Peters home on March 27. Armed with an AR-15, Peters shot all three of the would-be robbers.

Stupid grand daddy should have taught his slime ball grandson some manners and morals, instead of letting the bum get away with misbehavior. Might have lived a more productive life and not been found breaking into a home and trying to dodge a 5.56mm round. They leave severely nasty wounds. I know first hand, I have one, from an M16 in Vietnam. The VC had about as many of our M16s as we did and that is what I was shot with. So, grandson received a real nasty wound when he got shot.
If you break into a person’s house death may be the outcome.
Now that is one STUPID sign.
The family needs to be sued for the trauma caused to the victims of the break in. Sued to the last penny, nickel and dime. Then deported to Iran, preferably just before they get nuked.
Good comment.

Someone has to say it: Only a (I s'pect these weren't wops) would bring brass knuckles and knives to a gun fight.
Schumacher protested that Peters hasnt been charged for shooting at his grandson and the other potential burglars. Schumacher believes people have a right to protect their homes, but they shouldnt kill people who break into them.
Theres got to be a limit to that law, I mean he shot all three of them; there was no need for that, Schumacher said. These boys families are going to suffer with this for the rest of their lives. We have to live with this for the rest of our lives
Really, how stupid does this clown sound? I just had my car stolen by a career criminal. He was caught, and I received a letter regarding his plea bargain. My wife looked it up, and this guy has committed so many crimes for which he has never been punished, that you could save the taxpayers many dollars by just turning him loose. Seriously, trials cost money.
Think of how many victims have been save because these three human refuse are no longer wasting air?
Idiot Grandpa is a liberal I presume?
How about a .44 derringer or pistol with .22 magnum rounds?
Not humane enough?
How about a high power sling shot?
Maybe an 1847 Colt Walker .44?
No way that is real!
NO FREAKIN’ WAY.....
INSANE! LOL
I guess the guy who protected his home and his life upset Grandpa’s vision of a perfect world where 3 armed intruders can break into houses and kill people without fear.
“Would it have made you feel any better if they’d been pushed out of windows?”
(Archie Bunker)
We live in a fallen world.
Life is not fair.
Being stupid and having false ideas of right and wrong does not help.
I did not deserve God’s Grace, but I received it.
Were these young men taught Christian morals and ethics?
Should have thought about that possibility before commencing on a life of crime. They crossed the threshold with ill intent. The castle was defended properly.
Maybe he would feel better if they had been pushed out of windows....
Wait, the victims were white....that changes everything. No riots, no downtowns burned......but justice still served.
Sorry kids, you made a very bad decision. I feel horrible for your family.
You break into someone’s home, you might die. Best to find something else to do.
A .12 gauge to the head would have made it more expensive and maybe impossible for an open-casket event. Consider yourself lucky it was just a .223.
Gramps shoulda intervened with his grandson about 12 years ago and with his own kid well before that. Time for him to do some navel gazing.
How about a semi-auto .25 caliber air rifle? Is that humane enough ya?
They should have that about that possible outcome before they broke into someone's house.
But he's a grieving family member. I'd give him a pass. It's just reporters digging up quotes. It was a good shoot from everything I've seen.
Great minds...and all that.
