More people are leaving the New York region than any other major metropolitan area in the country.

More than 1 million people moved out of the New York area to another part of the country since 2010, a rate of 4.4 percent — the highest negative net migration rate among the nation’s large population centers, US Census records show.

The number of people leaving the region — which includes parts of New Jersey, Connecticut, the lower Hudson Valley and Long Island — in one year swelled from 187,034 in 2015 to 223,423 in 2016, while the number of international immigrants settling in the tri-state area dwindled from 181,551 to 160,324 over the same period, records show.

big cities do not have to be misgoverned hellholes, but with "progressive" politicians in control they inevitably will be.

Well, as I recall, it all started going downhill under a liberal republican Mayor, John Lindsay...

From your home page:

Not fond of: Anything with big teeth -- bears, sharks, mountain lions.

We got two of the three here in Montana.

Yep.

But, then again, Cali is like it is because of the mass migration of pervs during WW2.

San Fran was the primary sort and process center for draftees west of the Mississippi.

A large part of those that failed due to commiescum party affiliations, homosexuality, etc and so on, ended up staying in San Fran.

Over time, it spread like rot always does.

But there were other mass migrations of human garbage.

The Hollyweirdo migrations of all the idiots who just knew they’d be big stars! but were utter fails at everything.

The east coast wealthy locusts who infested the Cali wine producing area.

California’s gotten hammered by many waves of degenerates from other states and climes (and countries. Yeah, looking at you, Mexico!)

Yep, they already ruined New Jersey.

They are spreading in ALL directions...they turned New Hampshire into a soviet-style sh*thole. Nasty, nasty people. (Caveat: SOME are conservatives. Some.)

If true, I'm not noticing. Commuter trains to NYC are jammed and getting more crowded. Almost impossible to get around NYC by car. Restaurants are out the door. Then Long Island, forget about it. 14 hours a day of gridlock.

People might be chortling about NY losing people but I'm not buying it. Come meet me at 5:30am on the Metro North train platform and I'll show you crowds.

Perfect summary.

You have to be a complete imbecile to live in NYC or Long Island if you work a private sector job.

You’re basically a slave to the government employees and the welfare class, you work to support their free stuff and giant pensions.

I got out in ‘92, been back a few times, the place is basically set up like a prison now, EVERYTHING is illegal, can’t even drive over 35 MPH anywhere in NYC, cops, the city workers, and the criminals take turns victimizing the chumps that work for a living.

In Florida I can drive with a gun in one hand and a cell phone in the other at 75 mph without worrying about getting pulled over.

No State income tax either.

I’d rather live in the “rust belt” (insulting phrase), than the sodomy belt or the culture-of-death belt (that would be NY and California).

I remember being at the doctor’s office listening to a bunch of old ladies gushing over Hillary, they all were snow birds from NyC.

The local Bosnian and Indian quarter here in Jacksonville is also peopled by NyC refugees mingling with them....

By any chance are they full of the types that de Blasio is welcoming?
