Veronica Roth, the author of the Divergent series, recently came out with the first novel in an upcoming series called "Carve the Mark".
The novel is about war between special species who are born with special powers. One of the species is coded to be representative of a white elite society while another species is coded as dark skinned, brutal and not civilized.
I do not have an issue with alien species representing races we are already familiar with. Representation is important and rare in science fiction series, so the idea of representation is awesome.
However, my issue lies here: the species coded as white is represented as being more important and more civilized than the nomadic species that has dark skin.

Apparently, she hasn’t read this book, either. According to Wiki, while Cyra, one of the lead characters and a Shotet, has dark skin, her older brother has pale skin. The converse is true about the lead character from the other tribe.
If you’ve been following the battle in the culture war trenches, she does a good job of vomiting up the propaganda of the SJW side of the fight.
And that, imo, is the problem. To make SJWs you have to collect a large body of persons into an indoc center and filter for those stupid enough to fall for that crap.
And, in large part, that’s what colleges have become.

Genetics and economics. We have a 5000+ year history record of that. To many oppressive’s of one type will lead to war. A few years ago there was a big stink from the Socialist Justice Warriors denigrating the old authors who still attend the “Worldcon” world science fiction convention (that dates back to the 1930s and is held in a different city every year).
Basically they wanted to see the old people just die off.
In the new order of SJW supremacy, ageism is acceptable bigotry.
I noticed Star Trek had relatively few Asians, Chinese, Muslims, some Europeans, many North Americans.
The cannon says there was a WW3 that killed a billion+. You have that circle in the Indo-Pacific with a 500 mile radius where more than half of humanity lives.
Have a major India-Pakistan and/or Saudi-Iran nuclear war trigger further smaller conflicts AND knock out transportation so that people can’t flee as they are right now (like nuclear winter killing crops while EMPs destroyed most transit), and the most densely populated parts of Asia and the Middle East get depopulated while Africa sees a major depopulation from family.
Europe has a declining population (if they have the sense to stop the Muslim invasion), and North America is stable in numbers, so we’re still a major world power. We’d just have to rebuild infrastructure and minor damage.
This scenario explains why 60% of the world is Indian, Chinese or African and darn near none are in Star Trek’s universe. And why ones like Sisko are so clearly African-American (name, accent).
Then read the books on the “Sad Puppies” slate, conservative authors getting de-listed for Nebula and Hugo awards because the authors were conservative or libertarian.
These guys should dig up a copy of Weird Fantasy April 1953 and read Judgement Day. A remarkable sci fi story. They might learn something about race and sci fi. I was too young to read the original but read it around 1957 when it was reprinted in Incredible Science Fiction. You can eadily find it on the web by typing Judgement Day comic.
