My daughter was in the Marines. She married a guy in Marine infantry. She thinks the idea that men & women can be equal in combat is beyond stupid. She also points out that passing one test is nice, but that folks who do it for real need to pass the test with ease, and continue to do so for years.
In combat, no one wants to be standing next to someone who can meet minimum standards...
So many combat veterans I’ve known have told me that aside from the actual experience of combat, which is terrifying, combat itself is really about hunting other human beings. They have told me that under the right conditions humans revert to an almost animal state in which the senses become heightened, especially the sense of hearing and smell. “You could smell ‘em’’ was a refrain I’ve heard many times from combat vets. With all due respect there are certain health and sanitary issues women have that would be a liability in the field.
