Emanuel brands Trump’s sanctuary city threat a ‘bit of a joke’

Mayor Rahm Emanuel on Tuesday questioned the legality of Attorney General Jeff Sessions’ threat to cut or “claw back” Justice Department money to “sanctuary” cities and called it “a bit of a joke” at a time when DOJ funding is being cut.

“I find it a little ironic. They said they were gonna cut or withhold monies on public safety. Did you look at the president’s budget that he introduced? He actually cut the Justice Department. So this is kind of like, in my view, a bit of a joke in that sense,” the mayor said at an unrelated news conference about street lighting.

The mayor noted that 34 other cities have “stood up” with Chicago in opposition to President Donald Trump’s threat.

“We’re very clear about our values and very clear about our priorities. And if you looked at any of the cases, you would also see that we think we have a strong argument that they can’t do what they’re claiming they’re gonna do,” Emanuel said.

The mayor advised reporters to talk to newly appointed Corporation Counsel Ed Siskel, who served as deputy White House counsel during the Obama administration. That’s apparently where the mayor is getting his view that Trump is on shaky legal ground.

Chicago is one of the best places to live in America if you’re an illegal alien — and free-spending, lawbreaking Mayor Rahm Emanuel is trying his best to keep it that way.

Rahm Emanuel used to be Bill Clinton's top aide AND a Goldman Lobbyst at the same time, a (gag) four-term Congressman; President Obama’s COS AND worked the Dept of the Treasury........ at the same time.

EMANUEL COULD BE PROSECUTED UNDER THESE CONDITIONS--A provision in the Export Administration Regulations (EAR) is intended to prevent the govt from co-opting United States citizens and companies.

Significantly, EAR proscribes using US citizens as instrumentalities to advance a foreign government's foreign policy.

CONCLUSION--The Export Administration Regulations (EAR) apply to all "U.S. persons" (defined to include individuals and companies located in the United States and their foreign affiliates).

The provisions are intended to prevent United States citizens and companies being used as instrumentalities of a foreign government's explicit policies. (see reference)

Offending persons are subject to the EAR law when their activities relate to the sale, purchase, or transfer of goods or services (including the sale of information) within the United States or between the United States and a foreign country.

This covers exports and imports, financing, forwarding and shipping, and certain other transactions that may take place wholly offshore.....and/or across the borders with private donors to the Clinton Foundation in exchange for influence on U.S. policy.

The Rahm Emanuel and Amy Rule Charitable Trust was formed in 2002, when the Chicagoan was first elected. The former Clinton White House aide and his wife, Amy Rule, are its only donors. Emanuel was an investment banker after serving in the Clinton White House.

Emanuel's charity gave nearly $25,000 to the Anshe Emet synagogue and school in Chicago, and $15,000 to the foundation run by ex-president Bill Clinton. It also gave $14,000 to Marwen, a Chicago charity that provides art classes and other educational help to low-income children. Rule is on Marwen's board.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's husband, Paul, became wealthy investing in real estate and technology firms. It was with this money that ethese Democrats started a charitable foundation.

Emanuel and Nancy Pelosi are officers of tax-exempt foundations that carry their names----but they failed to disclose the fact on their official annual financial disclosure reports. Tax records show the foundations donated mostly to hometown charities. None of the lawmakers' foundations received donations from outside sources.

If these big city mayors, successfully stand up to Trump and maintain their pro illegal alien stances, then it IS a bit of a joke. Right now it is a test of will.
Trump of course, has the law on his side, but does that matter anymore? With the media constantly mischaracterizing this as being “against immigration”, Trump is in for a hard sell.
So I guess, that defying federal law is “cool” again? Let’s see, what federal laws are near and dear to the hearts of liberals? There are too many to list. Just imagine if some states decided to ignore environmental laws? Federal education mandates? Roe vs. Wade (which isn’t even a recognized law), just a “super-duper precedent”. We could go on.
So sure, let’s challenge ALL federal laws right?
Who gets to pick and choose, which ones to enforce?

Where is Jeff Sessions? To hell with the money. PROSECUTE THAT SHERIFF IN AUSTIN TEXAS AND RAHM EMANUAL AND THIS SANCTUARY BULL CRAP STOPS and we can get these illegal aliens out of here!~!
