GOP Leaders May Drop Wall Funding to Win Democratic Approval for Other Priorities
Breitbart ^ | March 28, 2017

Amid Democratic opposition, Republican leaders are retreating from President Donald Trump’s very popular campaign promise to build a border fence to block illegal immigration, drug smugglers, and criminals.

A top GOP leader, Sen. Roy Blunt, told reporters on Tuesday that GOP leaders do not want to include Trump’s spending for the border wall in the spring budget, which is due by April 28. “All of the committees, the leaderships of the House and Senate, are working together to try to finalize the rest of the FY17 [budget spending] bill,” he added. “My guess is that comes together better without the [border] supplemental,” he told The Hill.

Top Democrats are hoping to wreck Trump’s presidency by blocking any funding for his key campaign promise. “The wall is a poison-pill rider,” Schumer said in an interview with Politico. “They’ll do it at their peril.”

“Big difference.”

None that I can see. To be president and unaware of the forces arrayed against one seems to me the height of incompetence.

I wonder if the uptick in the monthly employment figures is a sign that not so much cheap south of the border labor is available. Must check out construction employment figure, also hotel, and restaurant.

They didn’t really cave when they never supported Trump from even before he won the election.

We hold the house senate and presidency so why would Republicans have to cede anything? If Obama was president and wanted to build a wall he wouldn’;t even ask for a compromise from Republicans and thats when Republicans controlled both house and senate.

There are three factions vying for power in Versailles on the Potomac.

Tweedledum Uniparty and Tweedledumber Uniparty, and the honest portion of the Trump administration.

A house divided, from shingles to cellar.

It would be, yes, if he persists in being so unaware.

The failure of Obamacare repeal and replace is proof that he was unaware of the forces arrayed against him. No one can possibly, reasonably, argue otherwise. That he chose to listen to or align himself with Paul RYAN of all people is proof of this. It's just not arguable.

Now, is this proof, necessarily, of incompetence on his part at this early stage of his Presidency? No, because ignorance (or being unaware) does not necessarily equal incompetence. Why?

It's quite simple. Because only incompetent people PERSIST in ignorance. Competent people do not. It's just that simple.

So now the real test begins: Does Trump have enough competence to realize his mistake in the Obamacare repeal effort? We shall see. Because what he needs to do is realize that the people he apparently was listening to during that mess, are the exact people he needs to start ignoring when it comes up for consideration again (and it will because Obamacare is about to explode in everyone's face later this year when rates hike up dramatically), or more to the point of this thread, he needs to ignore the Paul Ryan's in Congress and stick to the people who are his real allies, the Freedom Caucus and others with them when the wall issue starts to really heat up.

Because that's where his base is; that's where his real power is. In conservatives, not in the fakes like Ryan. Conservatives fed up with constant "compromise" in Washington got him elected. So if he goes down the same road, trying to be some great "negotiator" instead of simply allying himself with his real power base (which is how things really run in Washington, there's no real "negotiation" anymore, it's all just about alliances and power grabs), with the wall issue or any issue, then he hasn't learned this lesson and remains ignorant of the real way things "work" in Washington.

If he doesn't learn this lesson then yes, he's incompetent. Because real competency isn't being perfect all the time, it's being able to learn from your mistakes.

“Because real competency isn’t being perfect all the time, it’s being able to learn from your mistakes.”

Well, let’s hope you’re right, but at this point I am disappointed that he didn’t spot Ryan, McConnell, and Priebus for the slimy backstabbers they are.

That shouldn’t take a man of his age and experience more than a few seconds.

If no wall gets built. I am going to vote democrat down the ticket for the rest of my entire life.

The faster they enact their agenda, the harder the push back is from patriotic Americans. Put the pedal to metal, ball to the wall, plaid speed into the brickwall that is surely coming.

The wall is probably the most important promise to keep

I disagree.

There were two: Supreme Court Nominee, which I'm happy with. The second was broader than The Wall: Actual immigration enforcement. It's started, even without funding. Scare the illegals out of the country with actual detention and deportation, just like our laws stipulate.

If we really want a wall, and that's not a bad thing, it will certainly hinder drug runners, fund it by levying a 35% (the exact amount doesn't matter, so long as it's punitive), will help on both the lack of incentive and physical barrier fronts.

There are a few things Trump can do. But I bet he ain’t willing to do those things. You’d have to be a maniac.

I agree.

I’d rather vote for an honest democrat then a lying one.

So in the future that is what I will do. If the wall isn’t built, and they continue to obstruct Trump.

With your history on animal abuse and sex crimes, I’m not surprised you vote democrat.

Well, when you vote for men and women that claim to be republicans and turn out to be democrats I guess you would be technically right.

As for animal abuse: We raise hundreds of thousands of animals in cruel conditions for the sole purpose of being slaughtered. I find it hypocritical to be mad about a man taping HIS DOGS muzzle shut. It is of course HIS DOG.

As for sex crimes: The only sex crimes that should require registration are rape, and child molestation. There are a myriad of registrants that have no reason to be on the registry. The registry does not work because of the simple fact that it is inundated with people that should not be on it, giving cover to those that should(See Jaycee Duggard as one of the worst examples). It is a fact that sex crimes have the lowest recidivism rate of any other crime but murder. Once again because of the fact that it is overloaded with people that should not be on it.

Keep watching your Nancy Grace and believing there is a pedophile on every street corner. Keep believing it isn’t okay to tape a dog’s mouth shut, but in turn it is okay to raise hundreds of thousands of animals in cruel conditions for the sole purpose of being slaughtered, slaughtering baby seals, raising predators such as tigers in captivity and the daily abuse of animals everywhere on the globe. I myself will not delude myself about man’s dominance over every animal and plant on Earth, because it is our right as the dominant species on Earth to kill, domesticate, breed, hunt, and eat them. Nor will I believe the lie that all registered sex offenders are predators or child molesters.

However I am sorry that I have offended you. Your local college campus can provide you with a safe place, a blanky, and some tissue.

Good day.
