White House staff to skip correspondents' dinner

White House staff plan on skipping this year's White House Correspondents' Association (WHCA) dinner in "solidarity" with President Trump, who has announced he won't attend the annual event this year, the organization announced Tuesday evening.

WHCA President Jeff Mason said the organization's board "regrets this decision very much."

“We have worked hard to build a constructive relationship with the Trump White House and believe strongly that this goal is possible even with the natural tension between the press and the administration that is a hallmark of a healthy republic," Mason said in a statement.

Trump announced last month he would not appear at this year’s WHCA dinner, a break with past presidents.

"Please wish everyone well and have a great evening!” Trump tweeted at the time.

Organizers for the annual dinner said the April 29 event would proceed as planned, despite Trump's absence.

Totally agree! Boycott the event.

No reason to subject yourself to humiliation.

Skipping the first pitch?

He probably has too much to do. For the American people.

It won’t even take the full 8 years to kill this stupid thing once and for all.

The LAST thing these inventors of fake news deserve is being feted for lying continuously and continually.

No, he should throw his own dinner party that night and invite everyone except the lying liberal presstitutes. Then roast everyone at the Correspondents’ dinner.

>>Do you remember any “natural tension” between the press and Obama? All I recall is their slobbering adoration.<<

Free kneepads for all attendees every year. Needed for both obozo and michael.

The opposite of love is not hate. It is indifference.

The most devastating thing you can do to anyone — ESPECIALLY a bunch of self-important stuffed shirts — is IGNORE THEM.

This “enjoy your dinner” was the perfect tone of indifference.

Trump is not good at PRETENDING:

I admire him for that.

"...We have worked hard to build a constructive relationship with the Trump White House..."

Yeah, yeah... that's the ticket!

What a ridiculous thing to lead with. Just start off by establishing that you're either completely blind or a completely evil liar. I wonder which he was aiming for?

LOL

Competing event is a good idea, but he should totally ignore the presstitutes.

Maybe even make some major breaking news while the presstitutes are partying. It would be really funny to have them all get distracted by their buzzing phones etc., have leading churnalists have to scurry out of the event to go cover the breaking story, etc.

Yes, that would be funny. Have a sudden press conference where only the “second string” press who didn’t get an invite to the Correspondent’s Dinner are there to cover it.

Oh, B.S. There is never “tension” when a lib is in power, unless a lip-lock by the press on the hind quarters constitutes tension.

I think we have gone beyond the point of pretending that all is well.It is about time, in mho.

We can’t avoid facing the hard choices, and the hard times ahead. We have to be willing endure these. But the majority of our coddled citizens are not able or willing or able to deal with reality.

It is sad that it has come to this. Generally young women have no domestic skills, young men have no husbandry skills. They are not ready/able/motivated to do anything but consume and whine.

Generally, all “urbans” of both sexes depend on fast food restaurants and coffee houses to get by from day to day. So, let’s not even worry about how to knit a pair of socks, turn a collar, or capture wild yeast so they can raise a decent loaf of bread, or change a tire/take down a deer/slaughter and dress chickens for the canning jar or freezer.

No wonder the young women would rather depend on the welfare office, lawyers, and the corrupt judicial system, never considering that they need someone up close and personal who can hunt, field dress, dig a well, and keep the weasels away from the chicken coop .

We no longer have families, communities, and a sense of personal responsibilities to the same. We have now totally lost our culture, and the noble experiment given to us, from our founding fathers who suffered with much blood, personal loss, and family disintegration because of their bravery, and we don’t even blink an eye at the cost to them.

Only God can save us from our selves, and ( if I were him, would do much more than hurl a mega asteroid our way) for we, supposedly the best thing since white bread in the history of governing systems, are perilously close total melt down, if not a complicated cold civil war.

We casually kill unborn babies, arguing about which week is acceptable for murdering the developing infant, demanding sensitivity to mentally deranged women who do not recognize an innocent fetus as something other than their own right to destroy, because they assume god-like powers over nature.

I pray for them, that they understand that it is about something bigger than what they want/need/think matters most.

The barbarians are gonna win, for they have no scruples, morals, or ethics. All they care about is winning.

Do “modern” christians care all that much about fighting the barbarians in our midst right now. We are hoping it all goes away, but from my vantage point, it doesn’t look likely. I am not sure we have the courage of our founding fathers. Actually, if were to be honest, I AM PRETTY SURE WE DON’T.
