There’s only one way to describe the mainstream media: America-hating. Mexico deports illegals, and the media is fine with it. What’s the difference? Only when the U.S. does something that everyone else does, is it bad.
That’s been a favorite leftist tactic for fifty years. Find one person somewhere that’s affected, get them on stage or in front of the camera, lots of tears, lots of disbelief that this could be happening to them, lots of accusations that “Republicans Don’t Care About [fill in the blank]”, etc.

Pre-Nixon Local Law Enforcement handled most deportations and not the Feds. LLE had several points of deportation:
1) They encounter an immigrant who admits he is not a citizen and the immigrant is clearly a bad guy. They put him on the plane to Europe or Phillipines or the bus to Mexico. Sometimes he is given a choice, jail or deportation and chooses the deportation option. Sometimes he is not given a choice.
2) They encounter an immigrant in the court process and deport him very similar to what is allegedly occurring now.
3) An immigrant is scheduled to go to court. His attorney realizes he will be found guilty. He is deported as part of a plea bargain, often while keeping his record clean.
4) An immigrant completes his jail time is released. LLE is waiting for him and deports him.
I observed, participated in, and/or instigated all of these in the 60s in Chicago. This was before Miranda. This was before criminals became snowflakes who had to be handled with kid gloves.
In some cases, the illegal immigrant would go to the Ward Committeeman or an assistant who was a Court Clerk or Sheriff deputy. Money would be paid and the illegal immigrant would promise to vote and get his friends and family to vote for the ward committeeman’s slate.
Back in the 60s, it was very common for illegals from Europe and the Phillipines to use the political organizations to buy SSN card, Drivers License, Voters card. It was not possible for an illegal Hispanic to do so ... Until Oscar Lopez effectively organized them and forced the machine to buckle and grant equality to Hispanic immigrants in access to corruption.

It was handled more or less as an administrative process. It wasn’t until Clinton that the whole immigration court due process scheme took off. About half of the 12 million deported during Clintons years were ordered removals.
What sucks is illegals sucking the American taxpayer dry.
I don’t know anyone who at 39 is in court for assault charges....unless they are drunk or high
