I think Turbo Tax did ask if you had that IRS form from your employer affirming you had coverage or if you had other coverage as required by law. I clicked yes, of course. Because I do. And that was the end of that.

I wonder if I clicked no. What would they have done. Probably nothing.

It will ask about coverage, and calculate the penalty for each month of no qualifying coverage. Even with this year’s much higher penalty, it is far cheaper than buying ridiculous insurance that covers nothing.
