Oakland’s problems go way beyond this one ‘public servant’. Oakland is a large, filthy, high crime, poorly managed city, and it’s gone way downhill in the last decade. Aside from nuking it from orbit, it’s difficult to even know where to start.
From the day this tragedy occurred I have wondered why criminal charges have not been brought against this chief and others in the city government.
Oakland will get itself together when Lagos, or Kinshasa, or Monrovia get themselves together.
Which is to say, never.
