Democratic National Committee (DNC) Chairman Tom Perez says the Trump administration is trying to "bully" local law enforcement over so-called sanctuary cities.
This administration not only is trying to bully law enforcement and make them ICE agents, but theyre trying to bully immigrant families, Perez said in a statement Monday.
Local law enforcement know their communities best and the Trump administration is trying to undermine their role by threatening to take away critical funds that make our communities safe and keep criminals off the streets.
His comments came after Attorney General Jeff Sessions announced Monday that state and local governments seeking Justice Department grants must certify they are not sanctuary cities before receiving the money.
It's the administrations latest move cracking down on sanctuary cities, which do not assist federal authorities in enforcing immigration laws.
Such policies cannot continue, Sessions said during a surprise appearance at the White House press briefing room. "They make our nation less safe by putting dangerous criminals back on the streets.
Today, I am urging states and local jurisdictions to comply with these federal laws, the former GOP senator from Alabama added.
Sessions said compliance with federal immigration laws will be a prerequisite for states and localities seeking grants from his departments Office of Justice Programs. The office provides billions of dollars in grants and other funding to help criminal justice programs nationwide.
Trump often criticized sanctuary cities during his campaign, invoking people whose family members were killed by undocumented immigrants in the U.S.
Perez said Monday the administrations move against such jurisdictions is the latest in a string of harsh immigration policies.
This is not who we are as a country, said Perez, who was former President Barack Obamas Labor secretary.
We are a country that must protect families from being torn apart, go after criminals to keep our communities safe, and support our local law enforcement. Todays actions do none of that."
Scofflaws. And vote fraud and welfare fraud.
Nothing to see here move along
How about President Trump trying to enforce the law.
I suppose that whenever the President uses his power to persuade you to do something you don’t want to do, it could be called bullying, technically speaking.
Do they suggest he tie one hand behind his back?
What a bunch of whiners.

THIS JUST IN---Despite heavy investments, Democrats Flip Zero Seats in Four Recent Blue State Special Elections
This latest Democrat humiliation occurred after Perez bragged Democrats would show that their resistance to Trump could be translated into electoral victories. To add insult to injury, the Minnesota, Connecticut, Virginia Democrat losses are the states Hillary (cough) "won" in the 2016 presidential election.
========================================
Perez needs to smoke something stronger.....just look at the numbers.
HAT TIP VENDOME---23 Dems, 2 indies and 8 Republican seats are up in 2018. The math is improbable, as in not even possible for Dems to make a gain. At least 10 of those seats are very much in jeopardy.
The Dem are going to lose bigly and then the census favors the Republicans in 2020.
Trump for 8 years and with a Republican majority...then Pence for eight years. If you force the nuclear option just once, that becomes the standard for the next 8 years. We will get 4 more bites of the apple on SCOTUS, ensuring wins on almost any issue for the next 16 years of elections and 100 years in the courts.
Being told you have to follow the law is threatening.
FUTP
That’s not who we are again.
Obama and his party said the federal government is in charge of immigration. Now they believe big city police chiefs down to “Barney Fife” are in charge.
Seconded
Something about the words “law” and “enforcement” here.
I dunno, it’s as if they’re supposed to enforce, I dunno, laws?
And the law says that illegals get sent out?
Maybe it’s just too advanced for little ole me..
So Perez wins a “Fail” on this.
I want states to start declaring themselves Second Amendment Sanctuary States and refuse to enforce Federal gun control laws.
Let’s see how the liberals bitch, moan, whine, and complain about that!
No, President Trump does not “bully immigrant families”
However he does want illegal aliens to go back home to their own countries...
and so do I...
President Trump is not off to a good start on that. He failed to honor his Day One promises to rescind Obama's executive orders and actions regarding illegal aliens. Even now, three months later, he hasn't kept his promise. Worse, his Ryan health care proposal included medical insurance for illegal aliens!
Even late, will President Trump keep his promises or will he become a failed one-term president? If he gives amnesty to illegal aliens, I will not vote for him again. Period.
Trump has a DUTY to see the Law enforced and to put transgressors in prison. Hopefully within his first year he’ll get to it.
I love the comments over the hill. Libs BTFO.
Excellent post and graphic.
So? We’ve been bullied by illegals and their lawyers for decades now- it’
s about time we had a president who is taking back this country-
Oh noes the concern trolls are very concerned
