United Airlines bars teenage girls in leggings from flight

Two teenage girls wearing leggings were barred from boarding a United Airlines flight on Sunday because they did not meet a dress code for special pass travelers, a company spokesman said amid a furor on social media.

The two girls, who were traveling with a companion, would not have been turned away for wearing leggings had they been paying customers, United spokesman Jonathan Guerin said as the airline responded to the backlash.

"(The two girls) were instructed that they couldn't board until they corrected their outfit. They were fine with it and completely understood," Guerin said, adding that all three passengers missed the flight. He did not know if they had boarded a later plane or made alternate travel arrangements.

Though the three passengers did not complain about their treatment, another traveler, Shannon Watts, who overheard the discussion touched off a firestorm on social media with a series of tweets describing a policy she suggested was unfairly targeting women and girls.

“Sunday best”

there’s a term I haven’t heard in a long time. Some younger people may not know what that means. To me, the erosion of the idea of Sunday best is another sad trend of the times, namely, that people don’t get dressed up for church anymore.

Just a pet peeve of mine. People dress so sloppy for church anymore.

If you want an example of how liberalized secular/cultural standards have penetrated churches, just look around at how people in your church dress. And then for those old enough, compare to how people would be dressed for church in 1960 or 1970.

Ok, I’m going to take a wild guess....the leggings girls are some sort of minority.

It took a while to finally figure out that these were not Passengers, but employees family that were on the plane.

United is certainly allowed to have rules and standards for conduct of their own employees for crying out loud.

Liberals never miss the opportunity to try to destroy any business they can. Infiltrate, sue, destroy...

My wife used to work for one of the airlines. We flew “special pass” all the time. we knew the rules. And yes, you can’t dress like a slob if you are not a paying customer.

...

Yep. It’s an ignorant third party making a stink about this.

You fly for free, don’t complain about some dress code.

IIRC, the girls complied, not complained. It was some Feminazi oriented individual who witnessed the event and raised hell about it.

The reason why society and businesses need dress codes in certain cases is that you cannot rely on good judgement by everyone. And no matter how low you raise the bar, there is always someone trying to lower it further.

I can assure you that if the simple rule was that you were 100 % required to cover your private parts, and that was the ONLY stipulation, there’d be a long line of naked ugly people trying to push the envelope...

And THAT my friend, is why the world needs dress codes.

Do you know they sell “camel-toe” undies?
They are similar to the padded undies that enlarge the butt for a Kardashian look.

After the acceptance of accessories for the "nipple deprived," it was only a matter of time.

Goes without saying in a communist (classless) society...

Not when they are loaded with teenaged girl.

My tenant's 14 year old daughter missed the school bus this morning and I gave her a ride. She was wearing black tights; if she was my own kid I'd have made her change. It's hard for a normal guy to keep his mind where it belongs in the face of such display. She's a sweet kid, just clueless about it.

I am against dress codes of any kind in any situation. What difference does it make? As long as the person shows up? Sheesh! The company should be roasted for this.

Assuming you are ever obligated actually to look for a job (it may happen sooner than you think,) make sure you don't put that on your resume...

Flew Continental years ago. The male FA wore a wedding band; I asked him was he away from his wife a lot. He replied,

“I’m not married.” (Major oh s*** moment, I thought)

I pointed to his ring and he said “Oh, that’s my `fag deflector’! Lots of fags work in the airlines nowadays so I wear this to keep ‘em at bay. My girlfriend wants me to make it for real!”

(Major whew! moment)

Great story! Under the circumstances I’m sure my dad would have done exactly the same thing.

Leggings do no one any favors. That said, everyone flying under the “family plan” of these airlines is told they must dress up.

>>she suggested was unfairly targeting women and girls.

Be grateful for that girls. Men used to wear leggings and a codpiece. Would you like to sit next to that on your next flight?

"Shannon Watts, who overheard the discussion touched off a firestorm on social media with a series of tweets describing a policy she suggested was unfairly targeting women and girls" Sorry Snowflake, I flew on a Pass from my Sister (Delta) a number of years back. Boston to LA. No blue Jeans and the shirt must have a Collar. My luggage was ready checked. Fortunately I had slacks in the carry on, but had to rush to a souvenir shop to buy a "Cheers" Polo Shirt. It was the rules, or did Delta discrimination against my Lily white male ass, huh Snowflake ?

Delta may have lightened the rules, but I'm not sure.

And Delta is not the only company that does this. Some companies, if you fly on their private aircraft for personal reasons, you are still required to adhere to the dress code. The company does not have to let you fly on their nickel.

Note to snowflakes: Don’t like it? Pay for your own dang ticket.

I have found most leggings are too tight and too thin for me. I have found pants that are thicker and looser but resemble leggings when on. Everyone thinks they’re leggings. I wear them all year since they also come in Capri length. But always with a long top.

The girls weren't the ones who complained. They understood the policy and left.

It was the busybody Leftist (no doubt in my mind) who caused the furor on social media.
