Paul Ryan’s Catastrophic Lack of Political Skill and Judgment
American Thinker ^ | March 27, 2017 | John Ellis

Posted on 03/27/2017 5:57:26 AM PDT by detective

Everyone knows that a competent lawyer never asks a question in court to which he doesn’t already know the answer. And likewise, a competent political leader never puts a piece of legislation up for a vote without having a good idea of what the vote will be. But when Paul Ryan released his American Health Care Act he evidently had no idea what its reception would be. Whole sections of his own party were angered, and it was obvious that his bill had no chance of passage without truly major changes.

How much of Ryan's actions are due to a "Catastrophic Lack of Political Skill and Judgment" and how much is Ryan deliberately sabotaging the Trump presidency?

More the latter (99%) and less the former (1%).

Not just Ryan, but Reince Prebuis as he was suppose to run point on the healthcare legislation!

Know why it was pulled? Had more moderate Republicans vote against! Why are the Freedom Caucus the focus of President Trumps ire?

Ryan & Prebuis really didn’t do their jobs!

And it only stopped PP funding for ONE year!! Read page 23 of CBO report!

Why did President Trump support this bill? That’s the big question.

Democrats are smiling in D.C. that the Freedom Caucus, with the help of Club For Growth and Heritage, have saved Planned Parenthood & Ocare!

I cannot wait to read the leaks about who were Ryan’s secret conspirators in the legislation he produced. Personally, I do not believe for a second Ryan cared whether it passed or ever got voted for or against. He got Trump on board and then tried to dunk Trump.

Progressives were free to oppose in part thanks to top cover from the Freedom Caucus. All the time POTUS spent babysitting the arsonists in the FC could have been better spent picking off blue state RINOs.

We have a winner. He did not want any change and hoped to take down trump with it. He needs to go along with mcconniver in the senate.

They put in a couple token nods to the Freedom Caucus, not enough to budge them, and immediately lost Establishment support.

The Repubs’ lack of preparation and planning of the repeal-and-replace action was what doomed it. They should’ve taken a deep breath, slowed down and been a lot more deliberate in formulating a policy that would actually work.

Trump should have been more forceful. He should have demanded they take out forcing Vets into the VA system.

Ruthless Bannon should find out who put that in there.

Instead of flaming Freedom Caucus ..Trump should recognize they saved him from himself.

He got Trump on board and then tried to dunk Trump.

Remember, Ryan ran unopposed for the speakership in Jan. However, it was the lame duck House that gained him that nomination last year.

What did anyone expect from a wuss who got destroyed by Joe Biden in a debate? Joe. Biden! Ryan clearly is in over his Peter Principle level.

That tweet was a slap in the face to those of us that voted for him. The Freedom Caucus, Club for Growth, and Heritage are NOT the enemies. RINOs like Ryan and the rest of the GOPe, along with their “friends” across the aisle are the enemy.

Ryan’s plan sucked. Period. That’s why it couldn’t pass.

To top it off, he pulled the bill instead of letting it fail on the floor where there would be an accounting of who voted against it. Whether you are for the bill it or against it, it was a real dick move.

I agree. There was a deeper level of resistance to Ryan’s misadventure than we are being told.

Its up to the Republicans to replace him. The ball is in their court. But they will stand there and do nothing, as usual.

I tend to agree. The AHCA could have been political quicksand.
