Exactly! In fact, they conflate the two. Most liberals take what they believe about Christianity, e.g., "love thy neighbor" and the Sermon on the Mount, and ascribe it to Islam. Conversely, the truth that Islam was and is spread by the sword is falsely ascribed to Christianity.
Ask a lib about Mohammed and he'll probably say, "Well, he was a fella a lot like Jesus" or some other nonsense.
