Oooh, and let’s extrapolate.
No budget is great! A great conservative victory?
This means Dept of Treasury isn’t paid. All employees go home. Great!!! A victory?
This means US government bonds default. No one to pay the interest. That would be about 40% of the operating portfolios of every state. Not to mention no Medicare payments go out so your parents get no med treatment.
wait, there’s more.
“Well, those disasters won’t happen. We’ll be willing to fund just those things in a partial budget.”
Got 60? Why should the Dems allow you to do that?
Time to govern. That means you gotta appeal to the majority, that’s majority GOP who are somewhat moderate.
We haven’t had a budget in 8 years and none of that has happened. It just means a silly pretend fight over the debt ceiling every once in a while and no spending cuts.
The status quo.
@OWEN - Many thanks for your “dose of reality” postings here. Good reading and good perspectives!
Many Freepers tend to have knee jerk reactions to things (including myself). As a strict Constitutionalist, I want the Fed gov’t out of healthcare completely because it’s simply not constitutional for the Fed to oversee healthcare and spend huge sums of taxpayer money on it.
But there are some hard realities that make it almost impossible to get our way at the snap of our fingers.
It will take some time and possibly social collapse and rebuilding to get back to where we were.
