It doesn’t directly, but people who have underlying difficulties in life, one of which is financial problems due to underemployment or unemployment, are more likely to start seeking escape through substance abuse, IF they’re not firmly grounded. In 12 step programs, no matter which addiction, it is said that the addiction is but a symptom, therefore the 12 steps to work out the ‘real’ problem.

I’m FORCED to use the Naval Pharmacy for our daily meds, DOD MANDATE, they have one of those propaganda signs up. There is NO mention we are in 2 wars with injured personnel or training injuries, many with life long pain. All pain med scripts over 2 weeks must state for CHRONIC PAIN, and have to be hand carried in; and DUMBOCARE has MANDATED a 75% reduction in the use of opioids. The list includes Peripheral Neuropathy meds, but not anxiety drugs like Xanax which is as addictive as any Oxycontin. No one mentions most of the OD’s are from illegal street drugs laced with stolen or fake Fenyatal. They just tar and feather the whole lot of pain patients. No mention of the number of Suicides as a result of being forced off the pain meds they need.
There are 1.33 Million Chronic Pain Patients, who have no cures for their illness, and none even in trial phases.
